I don’t know much about speakers and Amp specks so I was wondering if you guys can help me out. Is this amp to much of an overkill for these component speaker Amp http://www.woofersetc.com...splay&Product_ID=3350 Speakers http://www.crutchfield.co...mp;tab=features_and_specs I am putting 4 component speakers inside, 2 up fount and 2 in the back. And will this push the sub ok? Amp http://www.woofersetc.com...isplay&Product_ID=521 Sub http://www.woofersetc.com...splay&Product_ID=3463 I putting only 1 sub inside I figured I need a cap as will. http://www.woofersetc.com...splay&Product_ID=2685 I think the Amp for the internals might be an over kill I just need everyone’s help on this. cookie monster ![]() If two men agree on the same thing then one of them is no longer needed. ^_^ |

You will need to get an amp to power those Polk speakers. That MTX is not overkill and a great grab for the price. That is a nice amp! The Solobaric I do think is overkill (pricing and so much power needed) and I am not a huge fan of them. I actually spoke with some of the engineers at Kicker and they honestly stated they prefer the Kicker Comp VR's over the Solobaric's hands down. Get the Comp VR!!! It will blow your mind!!! Good amp just always remember to match the impedence of the amp to the sub. Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy. -Ben Franklin |

solo barics are great subs. they do provide a slightly different sound because of the shape. It's not that much different. That amp for the subs isn't up to the RMS of the speaker. That amp is rated at 500 watts RMS at 2 ohms. The solo baric RMS's at 750 watts at 2 ohms. Pick out a slightly better amp to get what you're paying for out of the speaker. I also don't like Rockford Fosgate that much. But that's personal opinion. The amp for the polk audio mids and highs is sufficient. You're gonna enjoy everything once it's hooked up. |

I have a 12" Kicker L7, and I am very happy with it. In a sealed box it responds exceptionally well. In a ported box though it is very sloppy. I'm running a Kenwood Excelon 1200 mono class d amp and a 3 farad capacitor. The capacitor is unecessary if your just running one amp, but since you're running two, it couldn't hurt. Its basically another battery that your alternator has to charge though, so keep that in mind. I like the choice of the polks, but if you check my thread on upgrading your interior speakers, a guy on Sl is running a promo on CDT audiophile grade speakers and they are 219 shipped for the mids with tweeters and crossovers. Get whatever you want for the back though cuz you won't hear them. I think you can gets those amps at better prices if you look around. Check out http://www.etronics.com. I got my whole trunk setup from them except for the box, and for the amp, sub, and capacitor, I think it was under 600 including shipping. I got a box made by http://www.klausaudio.com and would highly recommend their work CDT Speaker thread: http://www.clubsciontc.co...d=17600&page=1#225794 ............... ![]() ![]() ![]() Search or one of these adorable kittens WILL DIE! |

kicker subs are ok. i have had 4 compvr 12's in another vehichle of mine, besides audiobahn, polk, mtx, and alpine. it was a sound competition vehicle and i found out real quick that they couldn't handle the rms power they say they claim. let just say the first time i put them on my sound db meter three of the four went up in smoke. i had a set of kicker impulse back in the day about 15 years ago that could take a beating. i have noticed over time that kicker's quality has degraded. the subs used to be handstitched and had a high quality level in worksmanship. if i where to go kicker again (i'm MTX all the way) i would agree with frankryzzo and go with the L7. It can handle power and has high output. as far as matching subs with amps. just look at the specs of the amp and whatever ohm load your subs will be will be running and see that the powers match. use the RMS rating NOT the MAX poer rating. MAX is not useful as you will NEVER get that from the amp. if there are any questions about your ohm load, sub wiring, etc. PM me. beware of the mad sciontist ! ask me your car audio and electronics questions!! |
