anyone have any experience with power inverters? what brands to get, what brands not to get, etc...i hear stories about some of them being noisy, some of them just not workin...where to place them, you know the deal!

basically i am trying to hardwire one to the battery (i do not want to use the cig lighter) and route it to behind the dash i guess so i can stick somethin in the glovebox.

any suggestions would be great! thanks1

Depends on what you want to do with it. Just make sure you don't skimp and get one that isn't powerful enough to sustain the load of what you're hooking up to it. Also, some of them have to be manually turned on every time the power cycles or if it trips so if you want to bury it in the dash you may want to consider getting one with a switch that stays on or make sure you put it somewhere you can reach the switch easily. Also, if you're going to direct connect it make sure you don't drain your battery!

If you're just going to use it for a ps2, why not just get the dc adapter and hardwire it?

how would you go about hardwiring a dc adapter? i thought you needed the inverter for it to be hardwired.

It's still early. Sorry, hardwire isn't the right term, but you could install a dc plug somewhere behind the dash and depending on how you wired it, you could have it always powered, powered when the car is turned, or hooked up to a switch. What I meant was that you could use the adapter in a way that wouldn't require you to use the cig lighter or the accessory plug in the center concole. It just seems like this would be a more practical solution then installing an inverter for just the ps2.

My father has a truck(semi) he uses a CObra it is God like. It been stepped on and it still works had it for about 3 years and vibrations dont hurt it either. I would go with a 1500watt or maybe a 3000 so u can also run a laptop as well.
