Okay..I got my car back from getting repaired/repainted - my rear side bumper got hit and was scratched up really bad. The shop did an excellent job on the paint blend on that section of the car damaged. But...I found in different areas of my car (driver door, side skirts, front fender, front bumper) feels/has a rough surface like cardboard...plus mis-inperfections in the paint (Like a foggy grey color on the paint that will not come off) The area's that are rough were not even suppose to be touch/painted

I am thinking this is overpray because I was reading on Megs.online forums that a guy had a similar experience on his door..rough paint..and commented his car was in the shop for 2 months.

Am I wrong, and it's something else?? I do not want to go back, and they make it worse. I'd like to know how to get it repaired if possible with not going back...even if it means a detailing job/clay bar What should I do??? Wax & polish don't do the trick, I found a detailing book on this site and read through that...and came up empty handed except when you detail or clay it removes some of the clear coat, and smooth out the paint (hoping it removes the rough surface and grey roughness in certain areas...

Help please

try claybaring your car and if it doesn't go away or get better take it back to them.

Here are a few night shots. You can see grey patches in the picture. It feels like it is on the surface...rough feeling when i rub my hand or fingernail over them.

rear panel

under dorr handle

pictures you can see grey streaks or patches on the blue. The white the white spots are reflections from the lights, and my camera on the paint, lol

I'll def try some clay bar first...hopign that takes it off. any good clay bar recommendations??? I know it'll be a lot of elbow grease too i bet??...

This the area that was scratched...looks good with a few bubble spots when they cleared...but, hardley noticable until you look for'em better than a huge scratch. cost me 430 plus a rental for 120 so about 550 in all without goign through insurance. The shop was MAACO by the way...

UPDATE:

I stop by the shop today...and I showed them the overspray on different parts of the car. They agreed with me it was overspray as well as after they talked to me on the phone Thrusday evening (the way I described it).

They are also going to fix up...touch up...the clearcoat...the bubbles, and some clearcoat drip from the clear dripping off the tape, and onto the finish near the wing spoiler. He's also going to provide me a rental car for a day so he can have plenty of time to touch it up

He also offered to have it detailed to have the overspray removed...but, I said I don't have a problem claybaring...
I'm planning on claybaring the car this evening after the sun goes down. What is it I need for claybaring... I know I need a very clean paint surface. So, I was planning on doing the bucket system. One bucket washing solution, and the other bucket rinse with different towls in each. (I'm at an apartment with no hose)

Sounds like a responsible shop.

have them detail it and then clay bar it....make less work for yourself!

An update again... I was able to get all the overspray off the car by claying it..polishing it...then waxing it.

When I took it back to them to have them wet sand some clear bubbles down, and clean a mess of some kind on the hatch (under the spoiler), they managed to scratch up my whole top part of the hatch by removing and re-installing my spoiler. I was pissed. I didn't call the shop yet. This is getting ridiculus!

I'm thinking about calling them up to let them know what their painter did to my hatch, Then take it to get repainted at the dealer at their expense if that's possible. No more Mr. Nice Guy any more! ..I'm getting mad!
