I just bought two MTX Thunder4500 T4510-04 10" 4-ohm subwoofers and I am looking for an amp thats will run both subs and wont acced the output of my alternator. Does anybody have any specific suggestions on what particular amp to get that will work for me? Any help I can get is greatly appreciated.
Thank You in advanced I have recieved nothing but good help from everybody.

If you have money, go with Alpine or Kenwood. What are they rated at?

Try going to crutchfield.com They have a wide selection of amps and they have articles that explain a lot on amps and subs.

I'm getting an idea so ingenious that my head would explode if even began to know what I was talking about....

as far as exceeding the alternator output, most any amp will cause you to exceed the alternators output. the way cars are made these days they don't tend to over engineer any of the parts. so the alternators output is pretty much only enough to keep the battery charged and run the stock accessories. what it will put a strain on is your battery, since the battery tries to provide all the current the amp wants over what the alternator can put out. an amp to match your two tens probably will only draw 40-60 amps. what i would do is get a optima yellow top or other deepcycle battery and roll with it. the optima im using now in my tc is from my previous sound comp vehicle and it is still running strong. as i have mentionion in other posts a capacitor will not extend the life of your battery or alternator but will help the amp to produce more power.

....to get to my point; i wouldn't worry about it. your stock battery will last for a while or if you want to be safe just upgrade you battery.

sorry, in all my rambling i forgot the question...
a good amp match would be the MTX TA4501 or one with similar specs.

MTX TA4501

the subs you have can handle 225 RMS Watts the TA4501 puts out 500 RMS Watts @ 2 Ohms. wire your subs in parallel which gives you a 2 ohm load. i have installed many mtx amps and many of those were TA4501. it is a stout amp and you will be happy.

beware of the mad sciontist !

ask me your car audio and electronics questions!!
