so i'm planning on changing my tires pretty soon and i wanted to know if you guys have any suggestions for a good solid performance street tire. I live in miami so I'm looking for something with great dry traction but good wet traction too and of course a decent tread life. right now i have the yokohamas that came with the car.... any suggestions??

I'm not a fan of Yokohama's. I'm running Avon Mach 550's, and they perform extremely well, especially for the price.

Here's a list of reviewed tires from tirerack for the tC:

Toyo Proxes 4 if you want all-season performance. Good wear on those tires and pretty decent in precipitation.

Complaining is futile when you supported the victory.

hows the dry grip on the proxes 4's?

Moderate. They do seem to have a nice dry patch grip and are decent in wet weather.

Proxes 4 are good if you don't have another set of rims for winter/summer. I have Blizack on my stock rims strictly for winter and G-forces on my summer rims ONLY for summer.

If you have 2 sets of rims, I'd go G-force. I love these tires and they grip like no other. Heat them up and you won't chirp 2nd at all.

i agree the BfGoodrich tires would be great. But i got the Nitto's 55 and they are great too. I went through a patch of ice like it was nothing. I didnt slip and slide at all.

Michelin Pilot Sport SP2 are pretty good tires but mainly designed for dry/hot traction ....we put them on our Porsches at the shop.

G-force tires have a 300 tread wear (stock is 160 and I got 36K out of them so with proper rotation, you should get a good 35-60 depending on your driving habits). They wear very nice for a soft tire and only add a "little" road noise just due to the added pavement contact patch. Wet traction on these tires is rediculous too. The large water chutes throw the water away very quickly and you have a constant contact on the pavement.

that sounds great , wet traction is something really important to me. I totaled my previous car due to bad wet traction, so sounds like i'll be gettin gforces. btw the higher the tread life rating number the faster it wears out right?

btw wuts the treadlife like on the proxes t1r?

No, the higher the treadwear, the longer the tire lasts. That's why at 160, our stock tires are junk).

Proxes T1R are rated at 280-AA-A

BFG G-Force KDW's OR GoodYear Eagle F1's, they are SUPER STICKY and are used on numerous SuperCars...
If you can find them, Yoko's Parada Spec 2's are amazing Tuner Tires. I'm not sure if Yoko makes them anymore since i cant seem to find them. Maybe Web can fill me in...

^^ Eagle F1's are the ish, but a little pricey. That's what I'm wrapping my new rims in when I get them
