I was looking around and couldn't find an LE to XRS (1ZZ-FE to 2ZZ-GE) swap with a quick search, but I did this that sez it can be done, just not how it is done:

http://www.toysport.com/T...ion/2ZZ-GE_tech_notes.htm

Looking around though, wiki indicates that the 1zz-fe has a trd supercharger option available, and another link indicated there is a turbo kit (i lost it though)

Or you could sell the LE and get an XRS?

I would contact the people at toysport on that link I posted, cuz they say they can do the swap, but they don't mention what is involved. What I took from the article was that the swap isn't really necessary. They were saying that the 1zz-fe engine has a lot of untapped potential, so I think that a turbo or a supercharger would go a long way. Personally, I'd see if the 2zz-ge head will fit the 1zz block. Kind of a long shot, but that would save you the trouble of the engine swap and provide a lot more potential from the engine.

Or you could do like Vicious said and just trade the le for an xrs...

Gotcha. Try to get in touch with them to see what's involved. They didn't make an xrs in 2003 so there is always a chance that the mounts won't line up and a little fabrication may be involved.

Try this on for size...
BOOST
...she'll be pretty impressed when she hits boost

BTW...the new `09 XRS is a detuned 2AZ-FE. A slower version of what we have in out tC's, and also bigger(1.8L vs 2.4L). That'd be a tight squeeze. But im sure the older 2ZZ's would fit. Same displacement, just 2 cams and a higher output head (GE). Plus only the 6-Speed or 4-Speed Triptronic trannys would mate to it. Which would mean a tranny swap as well. This isnt gonna be a cheap and easy job to do. Your better off getting the turbo from the link above. Besides...theres nothing like the feel of a turbo up on boost..or the sound!

Haha, boost is always nice. But what do you mean by detuned?

"Same displacement, just 2 cams and a higher output head (GE)"

The 1zz is a little smaller, 1750, 2zz is 1790. and the 2zz is a little bigger on the outside as-well. What do you mean just 2 cams? The 1zz has DOHC, it's a little bother of the 2zz, it has a lot more incommen than most people think, it also well pull a lot harder (with a manual trans) than most think.

From what I've seen the head of a 2zz won't fit a 1zz, but you can build a really nice n/a 1zz, if you've got the money and the time.

This is were I've got all my stuff... http://monkeywrenchracing.com/
They will also ask any questions you might have.

A well built 1zz can put out 220bhp, thats what I wish I could do...
