is there another exhaust system that sounds like the trd exhaust. I love the waY it sounds but people tend to bag on it for 1. not doing much for the car and 2. not sounding good with any other exhaust mods. I love the way it doesnt sound hummish?? or so ricy..sorry for the term

Try the borla kit. Best sounding oem style exhaust you can get for the tC.

Borla makes the TRD exhaust.

If you dont mind doing a "free" exhaust. just remove or disconnect the stock muffler. This will give the same performance, meaner sound and save you $$$.

If you plan to get a more exhaust parts like a header, stay away from the TRD axleback. Gains from ANY axle back exhaust are minimal so don't like the "it doesn't give you any gains" argument sway you to get another *axleback* exhaust. Some exhausts that will sounds like the TRD axleback are:

Precision Muffler (pretty quiet)
Borla
Tanabe Medallion (might be quieter)
Possibly a Magnaflow

As far as I know, the PM and Tanabe exhausts will sounds the best with a header due to their design. Not sure on the Borla or the Magnaflow though.

Precision Muffler is a modified TRD exhaust.
TRD exhaust is made by Borla.

Best bang for the buck exhaust is a universal MagnFlow muffler with custom piping. Not the model specific MagnaFlow exhaust.

Actually the PM exhaust is a Magnaflow muffler that's made to fit our car.

Tanabe Medallion Touring sounds aorta like the TRD exhaust once you change out all the piping.
