Well its best to keep that plastic thing there when it rains without holes so the filter won't get wet...and plus since its already low it will get alot of cold air...now when it's not raining take the plastic thing off if you want more air to flow through the vent which may have a slight increase in power since more air will flow through but you might not feel it.....by the way i have the injen cai.... |

you would have to drive through a 3 feet deep puddle to get hydro lock. your not gunna get it from just rain. 1st off the filter is far to thick and it would be a bitch for water just to get through it. and second if anything still does get into their its more than likely to evaporate by the time it reaches the throttle body. iv been riding around with the injen CAI for a few months now no problems.even with the plastic thing totally busted out(I actually took my whole front end grill out) |

Yeah you're definately tooo worried. I've had my Injen CAI for months now... i've been through rain that was so heavy that people had to pull over cuz their wipers couldn't keep up, and snow and slush and never had a single problem. And my insert is completely pulled out, I didn't drill holes in it. I don't like to fight, but i ain't scared to bleed..... Most don't mess with a guy like me- Eric Church |

I had a fujita installed on my whip (which the filter sits even lower in the front fender than the injen) and it poured hard here in CT last Mon. I check the fiter which was wet, and there was a little moisture in the first foot of the pipe, but to suck up the amount of water you would need to hydrolock your car would have to be immense. YOu would have to sit in a 3 foot puddle and gun your car to suck up that much water. just my 2 cents.... thanks |

Yea I wouldn't worry about water gettin that far into the intake. I live in TX so I don't really have to worry about alot of flooding where I'm at, thank god. But for real if you live in an area where alot of rain and flooding occurs just be careful driving in water that looks deep. Peace!! |

if u want "more air", inside the lower grille to the left,(drivers side) there is a baffle u can remove, it will allow more air without water. but when remoing any of those pieces, the filter will become dirtier faster. i just changed mine and it was black. nasty |

You don't need a hydroshield or bypass filter on a CAI setup in the Scion tC. I'm not saying you CAN'T use one, I'm just saying it's not necessary. Read my sticky. The Myth about Hydrolock ![]() |

^ No harm in that! The hydrolock thing has been discussed more times than any topic here, and although I agree with the fact that it is almost impossible to hydrolock our cars, I do believe that the peace of mind someone might get from having a hydroshield/bpv is worth it. -- Moved to "Intakes" 02/04/08 2:14pm EST ![]() "gonna wash my car before i take a nap.. can't rest well knowing i've got the entire cast of A Bug's Life on my bumper" - Vicious -- Want to post a "For Sale" thread? I've had my plastic cover removed all winter and all through last summer in rain and snow....no issues. I have the K&N Typhoon with the filter cover and nothing's happened. It gets a bit wet in the rain but for how much water it would take for the filter to become water logged, I believe we're safe. Our filter sits high enough out of the direct path of the air/water coming into the hole that we are ok. ![]() Complaining is futile when you supported the victory. http://clubsciontc.com/fo...-rims--5x100-pattern.html |

I took the devil's risk and I've driven in the worst conditions with my Injen in CAI formation. -what I mean - dipped into large puddles* driven in severe rain storms* driven with hole in wheel well splashing more water on the filter* ------------------------------------------------------------ it's not likely that you'll take in enough water to cause damage |
