 I have the OEM Scion Security installed in my tC and I was wondering how you know it's functioning correctly. Is the red led supposed to blink when locked, or steady, or nothing at all? The other day when I locked my door there was no sign that the alarm was armed. Can someone elaborate how the alarm is supposed to operate?

 Yes the red light should blink telling you that the vehicle is armed. Now I good way to test that it is working is by sitting in your car hit the button to arm the car. Once it is armed unlock the door with your hand and open it. The alarm should go off. If it doesn't, then either it is not working or it is in valet mode.

 after u lock the doors the red light should go on, then give it a couple of seconds i think its like15 seconds or something and then it will start blinking. to test if it works you can tap on your driver glass with your key and it should give u a warning sound. also get inside of the car arm the car and then open the door it should go off rite away. all of the lights on the car should start going off and then if someone tries to hot wire it the car will just shut down completely.

 most likely its in valet mode..cause once you lock the doors you should hear like 2 beeps (i believe), and thats what tells you its armed..

 The OEM alarm doesn't make sound when you lock or unlock. Also, if you lock the door and pull on the handle inside it unlocks the door. The red light doesn't turn on anymore after doors are locked. I don't remember if it ever did but I'm pretty sure it did. Cuz when I got the car they didn't have the alarm so I had to bring it in a diff time for them to install it. I just hope I didn't accidentally hit a wire when I installed my fog lights.

 once u set the alarm the red light will stay on for 30 seconds. after the 30 seconds it will start blinking and thats when the alarm is on.
