i was doing some research about a 6speed transmissions. the celica gt-s transmission is in the same transmission family as the one that comes in our cars. I know that i would have to modification on the mounts but is it possible to get it to mate up to the 2az-fe? If it is possible to mate it up then i think we could get better gas mileage and better performance out of our engine. This would be interesting to find out if it is possible to do. |

I'm sure it's at least feasible. I know ZPI was working on a 6 speed before they went belly up. Not sure if that's the transmission they were working with though. To bad they went under, one of the few company's that were making innovations for tC'S. "Losing is often a temporary condition, giving up makes it permanent." |

why do people always have this misconception that its the extra gear that gives more power or gas mileage? its not the extra gear, it the final drive and the size of the gear ratio. whether the car has 5 gears, 6, gears or 7 gears, if you have an aggressive final drive in top gear, you will produce more power, but waste more gas. a car with 5 gears can have a final drive of lets say 5.02 and a small gear ratio as opposed to a car with 6 gears having final drive of 4.33, the car with 6 gears will be revving higher at top gear while cruising due to a more aggressive gear ratio therefore wasting more gas! |

Exactly. And has this topic already not been discussed? The Celica has a shorter final drive than us too I think. End of story. You can't learn me nothin... |
