Now thats the good stuff

I've had a professional detailer go one-on-one against Xymol with SmartWax.

he details high-end cars just like that crazy xymol guy in britain... charges about $75 an hour i think it was... and considering some detailing can be more than a day.. yeah.. he makes his bucks..

what ended up happening?

SmartWax pwned... oh and guess what? hundreds of times less expensive for it.

This is what he is talking about. But it is actually 6000 British pounds which is about $11700 US.

My detailer says 3M products are the best; they even beat Meguires and Mothers! Though I have used that Meguires NXT wax and it is very good. If you live in a high oxidation area I would also suggest a clay bar rub, orbital buff, sealer (no wax needed) and have it done by a reputable pro!

Actually I think I found the bomb for hiding scratches and swirls: 3M paint sealant! Hand wash car, avoid using a detergent unless really necesssary, I usually just RINSE my car off weekly, dry with microfiber towels, (now this is up to you): buff the car with a light polish, (if you ONLY know how to use an orbital buffer) seal with 3M sealant. Next time you wash the car again, apply the paint sealant a SECOND time, then you are good to go (with an occasional wax) for about 6 mos-1 year depending on your weather. I live in the desert SW, and it gets frickin' HOT in the summer, and I frequently have to park outside during the day when I am all over town!

There are two kinds of waxes. Carnuba wax and synthetic wax. The aforementioned waxes I believe are carnuba, which will last only a few months at most. The newer synthetic waxes like Turtle Wax Ice provide the same amount of protection with if not better shine, will last up to six months. Both types are great and everyone has their own opinions (I think it's obvios where I stand). I would suggest using a polish before waxing to help remove spider scratches and to help bring out the paint. I do use Maguires for the polish

If you can buy a wax off-the-shelf in a autoparts or variety store, it's nowhere near the "best". It's not even very good. Gold Class has to be one of the most overrated waxes on the market today-- the entire line is sub-par.

Ignoring the pro-grade stuff that requires technique and finesse to use properly, I tell everyone just to visit Autopia-carcare.com and check out the product lines there. Everything Sonus makes is fantastic (particularly the claybar and detailing sprays), Klasse is the best consumer-level polish for the money hands down, and P21s will make you reconsider traditional carnauba waxes-- I know it worked on me.

You know what Meguiar's makes worth buying? Tire shine. They got that right.

I totally agree with Trung.

SmartWax FTMFW!!

I used to use only Meguiar's. Got my first bottle of SmartWax and I'll never use anything else but that. It goes on and off so easily without any residue. And it comes off clean from the rubber.

Your first issue is that you arent handwashing your car. I took the xA only once to a automatic car wash. And that was the last time. Now in reference to wax, I use Meguiars clay bar kit and then use NXT.

I tried Eagle 1 Nano Wax and was very happy with the results. My car looked like a mirror. Even two weeks after waxing I washed it and it still looked shiny. BTW I never go to a car wash anymore. They left drying rag by mistake one day and I swear it felt like sand paper.

I am not going to argue what the best wax is because I'm still learning, but I'm thinking I'll try the smart wax and some of the other stuff Doc was talking about on Autopia-carcare.com
