There are so many options when it comes to Strut Bars or Sway Bars. Which ones did you get and why?

I'm in between two brands of strut bars. What makes a Tanabe strut bar any different then a TRD one?

do you not like the look of the DC? thats the only reason why i bought it. between the two you are choosing between, id go with the tanabe, just because price/performance ratio is better and im not too big on trd parts, they dont make me feel like a tuner since they are available from the factory

So what if my girlfriend drives a Supra, I'm sexier than she is! No... I'm not...

^^It depends on if you get both front and rear. I'd recommend hotchkis sway bars. I have the front and rear set, and the difference from stock is like night and day. I also have the TRD (hotchkis) front strut bar and the ingalls rear strut brace. If you add them up, the front and rear of each set together is pretty comparable in price. You're going to love the way your car handles after you start stiffening

If you have the money and want the most stiffness go with Hotchkis which includes the front sway as well as a much stiffer rear sway when compared to TRD's rear sway.

If you don't want to spend $250 - $300 bucks, then go with just the TRD rear sway which should cost in the area of $150 or less.

The sway bar is a MUST do for any tC, I can't say enough good things.

Yea, I know Hotchkis is probably a better solution, but the price is pricey, lol. TRD sounds good to me. I'll do some more searching to see if I can find a good price. Should I get the sway bar? Or the package?

dealers sell a TRD package that includes other TRD items, but you won't be needing that.

The TRD rear sway alone will be all you need.

If TRD doesn't seem like a good price, a company called Progress also makes a very good rear sway with similar specs.

Yea, ptuning.com has that progress bar. Seems to be pricier then the TRD. Its going for $186 on their site.

go with TRD

it's going to be a HUGE leap over that flimsy stock rear sway bar.

also try sending a PM to CarCandy to see if his buddy has any more $100 TRD sway bars.

It's worth a shot

Are you sure about that? Everything I've read says that the TRD sway IS the Hotchkis sway except that Hotchkis will sell you the front as well. The front sway has a much lower increase in spring force than the rear .... 40%/68% if memory serves me correctly.

The TRD rear sway isn't the same as the hotchkis one. The Hotchkis one is a thicker and has 3 different stiffness settings where as the TRD only as 2. Also the Hotchkis rear is to be coupled with the front bar or else you'll induce heavy oversteer. I highly recommend getting a sway bar over a strut bar as the strut bars are purely for looks on our cars due to the design of the unibody.

I PICKED HOTCHKIS BECAUSE THEY ARE RED AND THINGS THAT ARE RED ARE BETTER THAN THINGS THAT AREN'T RED.

Actually, the hotchkis kit was a good deal.

^^ If you end up going with the Hotchkis sways, just keep in mind that the front bar install is a PITA. If you're not going to do autox or track runs then just go with the TRD. Install is also much easier.

Thanks for the correction!!! As for struts and sways, I agree that springs are going to be much more effective than reinforcement, but I will definately have both. On my last car, the strut bar was the last suspension upgrade and it was a noticable difference, but nothing like the sways, which were the first.
