I just installed my s-pipe and put the gasket on that it came with. THe exhaust itself doesnt sound much louder, but now there is a high pitched squeal sound coming from it. And it is not the rasp becuase I can here the rasp also. Could that high pitch noise be an exhaust leak?

Did you make sure that it is all tightened down and that the gasket is on right fitment wise? Also did you make sure to tighten both the bolts evenly?

Yes everything is tighten and the gasket is in. I dont even know if it is an exhaust leak because it only happens when i get on the car. At idal it sounds fine and i dont smell any exhaust so it might just be because the exhaust is so open now.

Well mine is all open from the header back and it does not make that sound. If you can get under the car and have someone tap on the gas, you will be able to tell if there is a leak or not. That would be my suggestion. And even if you have a leak, it will not hurt anything. You will lose MPG and you will not pass emissions. But it will not hurt anything. regardless you should have it fixed so you are getting the most out of your parts.

Where is the best place to take it to get fixed? I now know where it is to. Its between the s-pipe and midpipe. I went under the car and tried to line the gasket up better but the leak is still there. Would putting a second gasket there help?

Nah I don't think so. If you can't figure it out and fix it, then take it to an exhaust shop. They will be able to take care of it for you.

Ok, there is a monro muffler shop right around here. Ill take it there once I get some more money. In the meantime ill just have to deal with it. Thanks for responding. One more question, besides mpg does the leak effect performance and hp? My friend said it is only a slight leak.

if its just a small leak, smother that thing with some high temp gasket sealant and torque that sucker down. that should solve it. dont spend money on a little thing like that.

I think my leak is fixed I didnt use gasket sealant, I just went and got a new gasket, I dont even know if I had a leak, because It still sounds the same, but I think what I am hearing is my cai. But I am not sure, so next time I bring my car for an oil change I am going to have them check if there is a leak.
