I installed an Injen intake recently and got out of my car to get the mail the past few days and noticed the exhaust is almost "puttering" I guess. Just seems like it's not running smoothe. Any thoughts or suggestions? |

maybe the o2 sensor position isnt right. i made my own intake and wen i was messin wit the 02 sensor position it would make the idle rough. but thats the only thing i can think of. speedintc |

o2 sensor? I think you mean the MAF, check to see if the MAF is connected properly. But as long as you don't have a CEL I don't think the puttering should be a problem o_O ![]() ![]() ![]() The Thread Killah |

It's weird though...sometimes it will putter like that and other times it seems fine. Also at random times it will struggle to start too. I only have 2000 miles on the car so I don't know what else could be wrong at this point. I'll check the MAF though |

did you reset your ecu? you'll also need to let it idle for like 5 or so mins after that reset. then drive it nice and easy for 15 miles. then it should be good to go ![]() ![]() ![]() Are you in SoCal? i would say check to make sure its on tight with no air leaking cause mine did the same..yes and reset your ECU |

yeah it's not a really loud "putter" just sounds rough. I disconected the battery while installing... that rest the ECU right? And I did let it idle for a couple minutes |

make sure all your clamps for the connections are secure on the pipe and double check the MAF sensor. Be sure and visually inspect the seal and clamps around the throttle body to be nice and tight. the only air coming in should be though the filter and not via loose connections. |

If Intake is installed correctly and Mass air flow sensor is connected there shouldn't be an issue. Yes that should have reset your ecu. I notice it sometimes but pay little attention to it. Mods always change little sounds and create others from the car. Should be normal. On a nother note did the Injen CAI fit well? did the boots and clamps work? I had to change out both clamps and am still looking to change out the boots. I have a faint wistle from intake Everything is tight and connected from the actual filter through both other connections and to the throttle body. theres a leak somewhere just cant find it. |

no problems that I can see. Everything seemed to fit perfect actually. ONly problem I has was keeping the rubber strip that protects the intake from scraping kept falling off. I put a little dab of glue on it and its held so far. |

^the throttle body's butterfly designed valve does make a hissing or whistle sound when partially open. This noise is even louder on an aftermarket intake because of harmonics via the pipe. Good advice though, just as mentioned above, double check all connections |

now that I think back after installing the Injen, the car felt rough during aggressive acceleration due to vibrations from the intake. Especially around 3500 rpm. Any small putter from the exhaust could be unburned fuel due to the ECU continuing to adjust to conditions and learning. ECU is always adjusting air fuel mixtures in real time |

makes sense...is their anything else I can do beside tightening up? Its pretty tight so I don't know what else to try. if I install header and exhaust would it change?? |
