ok so i have the bazooka vse on my car but i want more bass. im pretty decent at wiring and electrical stuff but i know nothing about amps and subs, so i was hopping that you could help me put a system together. i want something louder but with good sound quality and also i want to keep my bazooka box.

i know i have to get an amp, a sub, and wiring but i don't know what kind, so basically im looking for the specs of those(amp, sub, etc.), thanks in advace for ur help.

How much are you looking to spend? What size subs? Are you going to use the entire trunka nd have no room o are you staying small?

Its really hard to reccomend with no parameters set. I could reccomend a $5000 system, or a $50 system.

the bazooka box is a 10 inch mounting hole. It is also very shallow mounting depth. Measure how deep the hole is first and make sure any sub you buy will fit.

i don't want anything crazy, i want to keep my bazooka box because i also want to keep my trunk space. the sub size is 10" and im looking to spend about 300 or so.(i just want to replace the sub not the head unit and the other stuff, maybe upgrade the speakers latter on)

but like i said i don't know what kind of amps and subs would work. like for example an amp that would handle x amount of watts and has x amounts of channels, and a sub that would do the same thing??. that is where im having trouble because i don't know if they will work together or not.

Let me see if I can give a good explanation.

10" subs can range in PEAK wattage from 100 watts to 5000 watts. Every one of these subs will show its RMS wattage. This stands for root mean square. It is the optimal average wattage that the sub can handle in a continuous period. That doesnt necessarily mean that you HAVE to run your sub at that wattage. The sub will just be at its optimal efficiency and output.

When you purchase an amplifier you will want to find one with a similar RMS wattage. However, you have to consider impedance now. Impedance, or resistance, will be measured in Ohms. Almost all subs are 2 or 4 ohms. It is very rare for you to find an 8 ohm sub. Most amps will list their rms wattage at 2 ohms, and their wattage at 4 ohms.

For example, if the amp has an rms wattage at 4 ohms of 300 watts, you will want a 4 ohm resistance sub with an rms of 300 watts.

There is a ton more I could go into depth on with how to bridge channels and wiring subs in series or parallel but that may get a little too complicated. If you are looking at some subs and amps online and need some input just send me a message at any time. good luck man!

i kind of understand watts and rms but this ^^^^ is where i get confuced. this and also crossover and single coil, dual coil. its very confusing for me.

this is kind of what im looking for some one to help me. what kind of amp would work with the head unit, and what sub would work with that amp, and also what kind of wiring and other stuff do i need.

im sorry, i know i ask a lot of questions.

ok if you're going to stick with the bazooka box and stock headunit. This is what you'll need.

1 Line Out Converter (Converts the + and - of every speaker in your car into the white and red A/V Cable)

1 10" Sub

1 Amplifier

1 Amplifier Installation Kit with 4 gauge power wire. This kit should come with approximately 15 or more feet of 4 gauge wire, 1 inline fuse, 15-20 feet of A/V Cable, a distribution block, 5 to 8 feet of 8 gauge wire, speaker wire, and all the necessary wire connectors

Here is my system for examples. It all depends on how much you want to spend.

2 Polk Audio 12" SR Series 124-SVC Subs $425 each
2 Polk Audio C500.1 Amplifiers $450 each
1 Pioneer AVIC D3 Head Unit $800 each

Each of my subs is 4 ohms, and have an rms wattage of 700. Each amplifier is rated at 350 watts rms at 4 ohms. I wont be playing my subs to the optimal capacity, but I will eventually double up the amplifiers.
