is anybody using an Optima battery, if so are there any benefits to switching over to one of these. i also am about to put in a new sound system into my 08 tC, is this something that will benefit my system, and at the same time give me better overall starting power to my car.. thank you

Higher cold crank usually and the fact that it's a "dry cell" battery means that it doesn't have acid sloshing around giving you unlimited mounting locations. I may be wrong but I believe they are a LITTLE bit lighter than stock acid core batteries too.

Not to thread jack, but what about those tiny little race batteries (ZPI used to sell them)? Any 411 on those?

My car isn't the fastest car out there, but I'll tell ya....

Sometimes I haul more ass than a pimp driving a caddy full of hoes.

I got one, its the odyssey 680 its tiny, i have yet to install it because its part of a bigger plan lol.

but beyond space issues its pointless to switch to one, you can't have amps/subs hell you can't even run the stock head unit unless the car is running.

wow that was more intense than that one time I forgot how to sit down...

WOW i didn't know that, cool thanks for the info..so i take it this battery would not be recomended as a replacement of the original battery, but more as an additional add on, like in your bigger master plan..lol

He's talking about the tiny race battery, not the Optima. Or at least I hope he is. The Optima batteries hold their charge better than acid core batteries.

oops my bad for misreading it, so then the optima battery is an ideal battery not just for the function of the car, but also in the use of my audio system wiring set up

Optima batteries are certainly more light weight, and hold way better than stock does. If you are looking for performance, go with the redtop optimas (75/35 if you plan on staying with stock size); they weigh less and cheaper. If you plan on getting some big subs and other things with less emphasis on performance, go with the yellow tops; they pack more power but weigh more than the red tops and cost a little more.

I plan on buying a yellow top optima battery, new tie down and possibly top-mount terminal clamps before the end of the month, mostly to spicen up that corner of the engine bay. That and I'll lose 10 lbs from stock by switching to an optima, which I won't complain about.

Im sorry to also jack your thread but I have a few question pertaining to the subject at hand.

Can someone tell me what the spec of our stock battery are; cranking amps, amp hour rating and weight? Thanks.

Stock cranking amps are probobly around 600-650 at most but not 100% sure.

I have a red top. Wanted a yellow, but I got a hook up on this battery, so beggers cant be choosers. I am pushing alot of power out of my 3 amps, and had bad dimming before. No issues with dimming now. About to do the big 3 upgrade to help even more.
