I'm getting the Momo Tube Air shift knob. My advantage on this...I'm having the parts guy at the dealership call it in for me and get dealer cost http://www.momousa.com/ge...p;type=product&id=151 ![]() Complaining is futile when you supported the victory. http://clubsciontc.com/fo...-rims--5x100-pattern.html |

I just had a few occasions with round shift knobs where on quick shifts, I slip off the top. I only palm the shifter into 5th and with a ball, it's too round and I slide right off. The rod will allow me to open-hand shift into 5th with direct pressure in the center of my palm. That will help reduce my 3rd and 5th gear quick shift miss. Damn round stock shifter is just too smooth. ![]() Complaining is futile when you supported the victory. http://clubsciontc.com/fo...-rims--5x100-pattern.html |

Jeff, you use most your hand to shift between 1-4? I got a round shiftkbob and usually use my index, middle and thumb to shift But that momo shift looks like it would have to be gripped pretty well! Haha, better grip though so it would probably be better. That and its pretty sweet looking. Good choice. ![]() "gonna wash my car before i take a nap.. can't rest well knowing i've got the entire cast of A Bug's Life on my bumper" - Vicious -- Want to post a "For Sale" thread? When I'm pushing the car, I palm the shifter dead center in my palm but with the rounded edge, I just slide right off. With the rod, there's a taller point of contact and less likely to slide. ![]() Complaining is futile when you supported the victory. http://clubsciontc.com/fo...-rims--5x100-pattern.html |

Web that makes absolutely no sense... If you palm the top of the knob(weird as that is...) a round knob has a larger surface area...all that nismo knob is gonna do is jam itself in to the center of your palm(thats comfortable?) i never could figure out how your supposed to grab those nismo knobs, like Mayo said i guess in between your index and middle fingers and thumb. like a pencil i guess. you can also hold a round knob like that if you get a waisted one. and the ball keeps it from slipping out of your hand. besides "nismo" knobs are for nissan nerds, Greddy counterweighted knobs FTW if its good enough for a Supra, and they also make you a man by giving you first degree burns on really hot days... <<< wow that was more intense than that one time I forgot how to sit down... |

That's how it's comfortable for me. Round knobs, although have more overal "round" surface area, the way I palm the shifter, a more centered hit on my palm would be easier for me to shift into gear. The "taller" the knob the "taller" the amount of surface area. I guess, it's easier to describer in a means of height vs. width. The ball style has a round surface so, curves will cause ME to slip off the shifter. The rod style has more of a height and for me, the height helps me have more area to push my palm on it and shift into gear. It's really hard to describe but it just works better for me. I don't like the regular ball style knobs. ![]() Complaining is futile when you supported the victory. http://clubsciontc.com/fo...-rims--5x100-pattern.html |

Man, thats how I grind 3rd and 5th! Haha. I can see how that shift knob would help prevent that. I thought about the whole surface area thing, and if you think about the, the way I grip my knob (index-middle-thumb) I actually make less surface area contact! That shiftknob looks like it would make 3rd gear and 5th gear easier to get in to. Especially on a hot sweaty day. Web, have you tried shifting in 2nd and 4th with that knob style? Im interested in knowing how thats like! ![]() "gonna wash my car before i take a nap.. can't rest well knowing i've got the entire cast of A Bug's Life on my bumper" - Vicious -- Want to post a "For Sale" thread? The tube air knob i'm getting is a universal fit up to 15mm (12.35mm is my shifter diameter) and attached with compression locks. I can adjust the height so it sits lower or higher and just attach it that way so then I can manipulate my redline boots to fit. May have to do some sewing of the boot top, but that's no issue. ![]() Complaining is futile when you supported the victory. http://clubsciontc.com/fo...-rims--5x100-pattern.html |
