i find bypass valves to be useless. most times when a person hydrolocks a tC with an intake (considering how high and the location of the air filter is) it's mostly caused by neglect and stupidity to attempt to drive thru a small lake-sized puddle. i've driven thru harsh rain and i have an Injen CAI... filter might get wet, sure, but unless you drive thru a massive puddle you'll be okay. and also, a bypass would still be rendered useless unless the filter is completely submerged. again.. another scenario easily avoided. Usually getting a CAI will increase your chance of hydrolocking. But still the chance is pretty slim. Ive driven in torrential rain and 2" puddles with no problems.
Thats a good thing to think of! But my Injen intake is a whopping 10" (rough estimate) from the ground at stock height. Pretty safe right?
Dyno tested intakes will be extremely similar in power gains. You can expect 2-3 hp freed up. But Injen is cheaper, and some might argue better. ![]() "gonna wash my car before i take a nap.. can't rest well knowing i've got the entire cast of A Bug's Life on my bumper" - Vicious -- Want to post a "For Sale" thread? If its a big concern, you can always go SRI which is at the valve cover height..by some act of god, could SRI's hyrdrolock? |

^^ yup. i've seen an engine hydrolock because they had a bypass valve.. would probably be the same act of God to cause a SRI to hydrolock LED Swaps and parts available! yeah, unless you attach a propeller to your bumper and try to cross a canal, you prolly will never have to worry about hyrolock. it's just one of those "make you feel a little safer" kinda things. I've got the trd, i love it, no complaints. I live down in florida. Sometimes we get ALOT of rain. Just comforting to know that i got it..... |

I went ahead and got the hydroshield for the injen intake. It is a hydrophobic material that does not restrict airflow, but makes water bead off. It slip right over the filter, I got it for $20. ![]() -Thanks for the sig Aciidsneaker |

or you could just but an injen intake in black and an AEM bypass valve, then clone it to look like a TRD. Mweh ha ha ha ha ha *Insert doctor evil thumb to mouth here* |
