Just like the title says, "What Got You Into Cars"?

For me, it was my dad, he was seriously into Chevy muscle and was always getting his hands full of oil. He had a 1976 Chevy Impala with a 450 (or something like that) engine swap and he'd peel out all the time

He'd also take me to the illegal street races in the inner city Chicago neighborhoods. The cops showed up and prevented one racer from getting back to his vehicle when it was near a fire hydrant, the officer opened the car door of the Honda and then he opened the fire hydrant right into the Honda flooding the entire car.

Those memories burned into me pretty well and I've always had a fascination for wheels and things as a kid

anyway, that's my story, what's yours?

Would have paid to see that honda

My best friend of 20 years is huge into racing everything from muscle cars to 4cyl turbos. Just hanging out with him and seeing what he is capable of made me somewhat competitive. The cars he has makes my tc look like its standing still, but I'm at the point where I just want to make the car different then every other one out there. I tool around in my car, but when it comes to a race, I take out his shelby charger glhs, stage 7 turbo. It's one of a kind and is pushing close to 600 to the wheels. Its scary to drive

Hmm. I'm a Daddy's girl and so him and I built cars together when I was younger, and I always hung out with guys (besides my dance team and sorority) outside of school and dated guys that were into cars, so it all just rubbed off on me. Plus, I like for guys to be like "woahhh she knows what she's talking about "

my brother got me into cars. he had a 12 sec mr2 and i loved that thing. he let me help install parts on his car which helped me learn a few things. his racing crew used to race at cmi in sacramento alot and they all drove mr2 turbos, 300zx tt, vr4, s2k, a supra tt, turbo hatch, turbo integ and some other things. but that is what really hooked me into the car scene. my brother also helped me buy my first car which was a gsx, which at its best ran 13.7 with minor mods and a 16 year old driver.
nowadays, my bro and all his friends have families, and drive mercedes and bmw's so now i gotta try and carry on what my bro has introduced me to and what i have come to love.

So what if my girlfriend drives a Supra, I'm more sexier than she is! =)

I would say my Daddy. I too am Daddy's Little Girl. I'm the only child so I guess part of him always wanted a boy. He taught me how to play video games, how to drive [he would put me on his lab at the age of 8, lol], & how to drive stick. I remember my fathers bright red 1987 Chevy Corvette. That was his baby!, lol. Ever since I saw that car as a little girl I was into cars. He would put me in the front sometimes, buckle me in, and do 130 in the car, and I use to lovvvvvve it.. lol.

it looked something like this:

When I bought the tC I didn't have any intentions of modding it at all. I was gonna get it tinted, and maybe get a different head unit. Then I met up with these crazy people in a club called Scinergy, and I got to talking to them. Two weeks later, my car had a Weapon R SRI with the cold air box, and a week after that it was lowered on Tein H Techs, and a RAM air kit was added At that point I was bitten, and haven't looked back since.

My car isn't the fastest car out there, but I'll tell ya....

its the barbie corvette!! (thats what car my barbie's drove when I was lil)

My parents have always major into cars.. they are in the largest corvette club on the west coast.. so they influenced a lot of my love for cars.. then I met my best friend and he is a total car freak and ever since then all we ever to do is talk cars and work on mine and his (well I supervise him with his car.. I'm not allowed to touch it)

My friends were into cars and I was always facsinated with cars. I can remember being a kid and longing to have my liscense just so I could drive. I used to watch my Dad drive stick and pretty much knew what to do before he "taught" at the age of 13. It is a paaion for me and it isn't something I will ever grow out of. My life pretty much revolves around cars!

i didnt get into too much till i got my TC. after getting my car i didnt really have much planned for it except the paint and vinyl. then i got on here and a whole new world was opened up to me. my cars before my TC was a:
1993 chevy corsica (POS!!!)
1992 pointiac grand am (lasted 4 months...)
1988 Honda civic DX (a good car but not worth all the money i sunk into it or wat i paid to get it)

with the 3 of those cars i had to learn fast as far as maintenance coz each of those cars were a project. fix one problem and 5 more pop up....

All you guys are pretty lucky to have really cool stories about your car interests. Before I got my tC, I had little interest or knowledge about cars.

Well, atleast now I can say I have the interest, and am definitely working on the knowledge!

As cheesy as it may sound. This site got me into cars, when I first bought my car I was just looking around and stumbled upon this site. Once I found this site, I found all these great people and learned a lot. Because when I started it was either learn about cars or computers and those who know me, know I was one to choose computers. but this site has taught me so much and if it wasn't for the users I don't think I would have ever logged on here as much or learned as much, I am normally not the type that likes forums but this is my exception.

I've just had a fascination w/ cars all my life, as a newborn I was taken for a ride if I was cryin' too much. Family trips we're almost always in cars. Then mom made the mistake of buyin' me Hot Wheels. My grandma went from an AMC Gremlin to a special ordered,(by another customer), early 70's Firebird w/ the 400 c.i. engine outta the Trans Am. White w/ a blue interior. Mom's first car was a '71 Vdub super beetle.

Thru Jr. High I was told it would be mine when I turned 16. Then I started reading VW Trends and Road and Track and the addiction was started!

Then I was finally able to have what I always wanted... a driver's license.

Oh man, I remember it like it was yesterday. My oldest brother took me for a ride in his blue notchback convertible mustang. It was a 302 with a supercharger in it. We were just driving down the road going somewhere and he got on it for whatever reason, after that it has all been down hill since. It was like Talladega Nights all over again ".... I wanna go fast ...."

My tC pretty much got Me into cars. I've always loved them and looked at them, but only in a sort of aesthetic way. Growing up I had beaters an 84 cutlass supreme 4dr, an 86 cutlas supreme 2dr, then I got what used to be one of My favorite cars, a trans am. It was an 85, needed lots of work, but someone had put a 350 in it instead of the 305, so it was pretty quick. Next was My 72 Cadillac Hearse. The back was gutted of all the coffin equipment and had a carpeted deck instead. We used to drive around with 17 people lounging comfortably in it, haha. When I finally got My tC I had a bunch of ideas about changing the looks, but this site has taught Me so much about cars and opened up a lot more ideas. Before I barely knew anything about them, but I read on this site every night I'm here at work and I've learned a lot, so now I'm figuring out all the things I want to do to it, and also how to do them Myself

THE SHADOW

Gran Turismo..........The original was awesome and the fact that you can adjust EVERYTHING about the car/suspension/engine/drivetrain made it so cool. It pulled me in and after that, I looked at cars differently. Working at Autozone for 3 years got me even further into cars. The knowledge I got mainly from the customers that were car nuts was great. Having the drag strip 5 miles from the store was convenient b/c on Friday nights, people came in to the shop to buy parts for their runs that night. Then, they came in the next morning and told us all about it and bought more parts. They described why/what they were buying new parts for and what they think will help for the next week. It was just a really cool environment.

well when i was groing up my dad had a 67 chevy truck with a 350. we always use to take it to the cruise in. he use to take me to the dirt track races, quarter midgets, monster trucks, demolition derby everything. he had a harley when i was growing up that he would take me for rides on.

anytime he would be working on his truck in the garage i would always go out and spend hours hanging out with him. he would answer all my questions, tell me how everything worked, and let me help out. i would always help him out on my moms car also. she had an 87 olds cutless supreme with the 307 factory 4 barrel.

then when i was a senior my girlfreind at the time, her moms boyfriend had a 10 second drag car. so i would go to the drag strip with them and watch. that is when i got into drag racing. as soon as i got a job working for minimum wage i would use as much money as i could to work on my cars. the more money i made the better stuff i would get. and the rest is history.

Car is being put on hold until further notice. Work will continue pending on if i get the new toy i want or not. I will keep you all posted.

UPDATE ON THE TUNE. It went ok but a few little issues that are causing my performance to be less than expected have shown themselves. Now I have to resolve them when I get the chance and it will be back to PTuning for the finishing touches.
