Yo i need some advice here yo, imma bout to put an intake on my 08 tc but not dat sure on which one to get the weapons type R short ram or the injen cold air? any tips? cause they both claim to be the best and im confused now

the weapons type are says that its better than any cold air cause of the ways its designed, its supposed to have like 2 air passages that flow in opposite directions creating a vaccum for more air to get in.
and the injen cold air is supposed to be the only and first acutual tuned intake for peak performance

how about, u buy the injen and use it as a cold air, and if u dont like it, convert it to a short ram that way u can switch between ram and cold air whenever u like!

SRI's are for driving all out on the highway!
CAI's are "cool" and for putting around town and racing civics...

your intake says alot about you...

I started with K&N and decided to try the Weapon R. I tried it for about 30 minutes and decided to take it out b/c it was bogging my car down. Come to find out, the filter wasn't oiled and I would have to spend more money and wait longer to get the oil shipped to me. I just put the K&N CAI back on and have loved it ever since.

I can't complain with my 30.2 mpg average ...90% highway

Weapon R seemed cheap to me. The "rubber" flanges felt like hard plastic, the filter connector was made of the same material and was difficult to keep tightened on the pipe, the pipe support was a cheap piece of aluminum and the valve cover breather outlet on the pipe was in a position that made the hose bend on itself.

Sorry for being so against Weapon R, but their SRI was one of the worst designs that I've seen for intakes on just about any car. I do agree they sound good, but the overall construction of them felt very cheap to me.

I've installed K&N and Injen and amongst those 2, I would say Injen felt better constructed. I was just too impatient when I bought my car. Mayo brought his car over and I installed his Injen setup and thought it was nice. Plus, Injen can go either CAI or SRI....it's the ONLY one so far that can do that of ALL the tC intakes.

I like my CAI, but after hydrolocking my car i'm thinking about switching to short ram. if your area gets a lot of heavy rain i would say go SR. i get so paranoid now when it rains because the water can sometimes get like 3 inches on certain roads here.

Yeah, those situations are meant more for SRI.

i've toyed around with different setups...i had an injen initially but then i thought i'd make a quick jump to f/i so i sold it...1yr+ later, still no f/i...lol...nevertheless, since then i've been running different sri setups and the one i'm running now is probably the torquiest and loudest but the one i had before was a little better for overall power(meaning different filter and hosing/setup)....and although i too believe injen, k&n, etc. stand atop the hiearchy of the tuning world, the difference is minimal(trust me, i've felt it) but the price isn't...in the long run you're just paying for the name and a few better weldings and plastics on the outside, however nothing that effects performance...

Weapon R FTW Had it for two years and loved it. Web does bring up some good points though. The return valve is definitely in a bass ackwards spot. I took a hose clamp and tightened it on the spot where it was creasing so that it was forced to stay round.

You can get the ram air attachment if you want to pull colder air, but it doesn't convert to a true cai like the injen. I've always been happy with it and would recommend it any day.

What I dont like about short ram intakes is they are so close to the engine, and all the hot air under the hood is whats getting sucked in to the engine. Thats why I bought the injen, so i can keep it as a cold air intake so the cold air that comes through the grill i drilled holes through(but im soon replacing with a better vented one)on the drivers side gets sucked in to the engine. Its much better then having all the hot air going through the intake. THats why its called cold air intake. And if it rains a lot ill just switch it to sr.

I enjoy using the SR setup

even a short ram intake has it's benefits regardless of engine air temp

right now I'm using Injen's CAI setup because it fits my driving style

^dude this is if you're runnging an extremely high temp, f/i possibly...otherwise, the difference is not really noticeable, especially perfomance wise....maybe after running hard for hours cai would be a little torqier other than there is really no difference...the important thing is that any open intake is better than that stock piece of shit they call an intake..

I agree with alot of what your saying, the parts on the intake don't seem to be constructed well, I was considering a CAI but it rains TOO much here in Chicago..so no hydro-locking for me plus the SR serves as a good economical alternative.

A CAI pulls in colder air because the filter is lower to the ground. (Cold air sinks and hot air rises) The cold the air coming into the engine, the more horsepower you can achieve. A SRI pulls in hot air because the filter sits in the engine bay. Even with a heat shield, it is not protecting it from all the heat. Even though it is allowing more air to come in, it is hotter air so you aren't really getting any HP. If you are looking for just some sound and for the look in your engine bay, then go with a SRI, if your looking for power, then go with a CAI. Injen makes a good CAI and you can convert between a CAI and SRI, so you could get the best of both worlds!

I agree, The stock one is a piece of shit. I may switch my intake to short ram soon anyway. I think it will look better and be a little louder than cold air.
