Hey people, I’m looking to get a new car before the end of the year, and so far I’ve got my eye on the tC. The mazda3 is still in my mind, but the tC is ahead. My biggest issue with the tC is the thing that so many people seem to love: their ‘pure pricing’ concept. I personally LOVE the haggling process, but that might be because my mom and dad are in marketing and retail respectively. What I wanted to ask you guys is this: Since the price is going to be the same everywhere I go and the dealer fees aren’t probably too different from place to place, how do I choose which dealer to go with? What incentives should I be looking for? What concessions have you guys gotten your dealers to make to get your sale against the scion dealer next door to them? I have about 8 dealers in less than a 45 minutes drive from where I live. Any help from what to look for, what to ask for, etc. would be really appreciative. Thanks. |

i would go with dealers that arent complete dicks, ones that ACTUALLY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT, and assist u in the sale process the best they can. dont go for the ones that are just looking for the sale, look for the dealers that are looking for customers to keep for a lifetime |

dude i bought my car from a suzuki dealer in 2006 (mine is a 2005), i got a hell of a deal on it and they told me that the previous owner traded in the scion for a mini cooper."go figure"! But anyways no matter where ya go youll always find a good deal on a scion..if in doubt refer to the "kelly blue book" for a refference. |

It might depend on if you have a trade in or not. Some dealerships will offer say 3000 no matter what on any trade in. Often they will jack up the prices of the cars 3000 dollars though 2 weeks before this "super trade in sale". However, the prices are locked on Scions. This is what I did and I was pretty confident I got a good deal with a crappy trade in. I spent roughly 14000 with my trade in. ![]() |

just make sure that if you have a trade-in...you set the price for your trade-in before you let them know what kind of car you want to buy. lots of places set the price when ur closing the deal and you don't always get what its worth. Good Luck! |

I work for a dealer as the Scion Manager. You are 100% correct that the price will be the same anywhere you go ( as long as it is brand new). The idea behind pure price is to take the stress out of purchasing a car by eliminating the haggling process but, it is also in place to give you the piece of mind that you are getting the best deal because it is what everyone else pays. When shopping for a Scion you should look for a few things in particular. Obvioulsy because you can't shop by price, you should be looking for their knowledge and how your treated as a customer. I am not sure how old you are but, a lot of dealers won't give a kid the time of day because they assume that they can't buy or they are not serious. No one should be treated this way so take that into consideration. Also if you do have a trade what they will give you is important as well. You can use Kelley blue book as a guide but remember, that is not what the car is actually worth. It only gives you a ballpark figure and most used cars are considered to be fair condition. So make sure you are realistic when you are trying to achieve a certain number. You don't want to go there with the idea that your car is in excellent condition and that you will recieve what Kelley said! Make sure you check out their service department and ask the questions that raise your concern. A good dealer is one who will not only earn your business, but will earn your respect and that is what will make you a customer for life. Our job is not easy and there is plenty of competition out there. If you happen to live in New England, come see me and I promise you will 110% satisfied! If not then you are more than welcome to ask me anything throughout the process or if you have any concerns and I will do my best to help you. Now I know that you mentioned you are also considering the Mazda 3. It is a good car and Mazda is a good company, but it does not have the reputation that Toyota has and it will not hold it's value as well as the tC or be as dependable. Right now the tC is the hottest car on the market and before you know it, there will be more tC's than civic's on the road. I hope this info has helped and I wish you the best of luck!!! Well you have came to the right place for your questions. I would say if you have a friend or family member that has had a good experience at one of the car lots go with them, when I bought my car I just went with the first dealership. They offered nice benefits for buy a car through them, such as Free Tires for Life, Free Car washes for as long as I own the car and such, but that is just my input. ![]() ![]() Scion Wiki ~~ |

Another thing to consider is the manner you are purchasing. The pricing is set, but the finance manager has some wiggle room (based on your credit rating) on your interest rates. Case in point, I had a loan offer from my bank at x percent interest, the finance manager offered me a lower rate if I also accepted the extended warranty and the service plan. I took it. Shortly thereafter, I installed a turbo, canceled my extended warranty, and kept my rate. I wasn't lying, it's just that things had changed. My car isn't the fastest car out there, but I'll tell ya.... Sometimes I haul more ass than a pimp driving a caddy full of hoes. That is incorrect. When you plan on financing your Scion the finance manager has to submit the loan to Toyota. If it gets approved, they have to send it there and there is absolutley no "wiggle" room in the rate. Pure pricing extends to not just the car, but the rates and accessories. They only way "wiggle" room is possible is if the loan gets denied through Toyota and they have to submit it to another bank. Ask me about Innovative Car Works! Hmmmm well, I am just speaking from my own experience when I purchased my vehicle where I had a given rate from my bank, and the finance manager offered me a lower rate after I showed them the letter of approval. This was without a prior loan submission on their end. It was several percent less interest. My car isn't the fastest car out there, but I'll tell ya....
