My wife was trying to be nice, shes not into cars but she did buy my a CAI for me car. It was from ebay, somehting simple but it was the thought that counts. After installing the CAI my car wont start, it starts up, gauges all move and then cuts off, i tried again and it sounded like a little back fire. I gave up and put on my stock intake and now its all fine. What did i do wrong?

double check the clamps and seals around the throttle body and tubes for a secure fit

also make sure your MAF sensor is securely in place and all wires are connected

The intake she got me said it was for my car, now there wasnt anyplace where that tube connects too like on the stock on, it just had the adaptor for the that air sensor

there are two vital things for a functioning intake

1. connection and tight seal to the throttle body

2. connection of the air sensor (for proper ECU reading)

(of course the filter)

It should turn off the first time and then start up normally the second time. Check the few things orin mentioned because that can definitely affect it. Also, the battery needs to be disconnected for 5 minutes to adjust to the new amount of air flow. Let us know.

I dont have a pic of it, i can hunt one down online. Next time i'll be able to work on the car is monday so i'll let you guys know how it goes. Alittle more detail, when it started is was a quick cut off, it did even try to stay on.

disconnecting the battery will help because it resets the ECU, then it will continue to adjust while you drive

if the air sensor wasn't hooked up and the battery disconnected, the computer will think there is a problem and shut off the car

What all has to be reset when i plug the battery back in with the windows and all.

after disconnecting the battery and reconnecting, systems will reset on their own

don't freak out if windows and sunroof do not function as they should, that's normal, it will go back to normal

Often times the sunroof resets its self, but from each door you need to hold the window button down for at least three seconds until they both go up and down with auto feature.

If your car kept stalling the MAF wasnt reading properly. Those ebay intakes are tricky. I see you have a 07. they will advertised that a intake will fit a 07 but wont. 05-06 have the same MAF and 07-08 have the same thus far. Or if it did fit like it was pose to. The seal around the piping wasnt solid enuff and may was leaking air

Yea if the holes didnt line up right it wasnt for a 07. Plus the MAF wasnt reading right causin ur car to stall and if it wouldve start. Ur engine light woulda came on. Yea send that back. Trust me i went thro the same thing. So i said f it and bought a fujita and love it

should i just go to the dealership and buy a trd CAI or shop around. I dont want to go through any more trouble with a new car.

a TRD intake is still just an intake, the same thing can happen if not installed properly

No not to the dealer. They will over price the shit outta you. They will probably say 400 bucks. So what i would do is go back on ebay and search fujita intakes. When it pops up they will say 212 or best offer with free shipping. Offer them 150 and they should take it. Make sure its for a 07 tho. Thats what i did. Most of the guys on here have injen but there's alot with fujita to. It's a good intake sounds great and most important the cheapest out there that's brand new. Good luck buddy

make sure the sensor is facing the same way it was on your factory one cuz i got a free fujita intake but it was for a 05 and my car is an 07 and the sensor was flipped around and i turn it on and it would do the same thing so i had to make a gasket for it and flip it around and i have no trouble with it any more

maybe she bought you the wrong year intake.. cuz the MAF sensor is different on the 05-06 and you have an 07 right? so that might be your answer...
