TT + tC = Love!

So I broke down and bought a second car. My mods on the tC will remain as-is with no additions, and the tC will become my daily driver (as it's been very dependable with no issues since I pulled the first one out of my local dealership over 3 years ago).

I added a new toy to my family. Say hello to my little friend:

http://picasaweb.google.c...udiTT?authkey=XZp8pyYFzdY

Click for pictures.

She's a 2001 Audi TT Quattro, purchased with 24,000 miles, garaged her whole life, and driven a few thousand miles a year. Needless to say she's at about 30,000 now because she's so incredibly fun to drive. Owner threw in two sets of wheels and rims - summer (see pics) and winter (stock rims).

225HP I4 Turbocharged engine right now. I threw on a custom intake from someone that hand-makes them for the TT. My boost gauge is installed, a new diverter valve as well. I have a shopping list of about 40 other mods I want to install. Best feature? Heated seats. That'll come in handy this winter.

VERY NICE!!!!

My car isn't the fastest car out there, but I'll tell ya....

Sometimes I haul more ass than a pimp driving a caddy full of hoes.

Me to Pathik at PRacing.com about modding cars

Thanks much

I picked it up for $15k...cheaper than when I bought the tC brand new! Of course, there's zero warranty, it guzzles gas (I average 25mpg on a good week), requires 91/93 octane, and jacked my insurance up. The insurance is actually, for me, the same as my tC. But that means I'm paying twice as much for insurance now.

The one major downside is that the engine bay offers very little room to work, unlike the tC which generally has a very open engine compartment.

Oh, and as I'm now noticing, I'm either burning an incredible amount of oil, or it's seeping from somewhere.

Thanks Mayo! I've been in love with the TT since I first saw one around 1999...the body hasn't changed until this year, and I've been pining over it for yearrrrrrs.

25mpg isn't that bad at all for the amount of hp you got. And for 15k? Damn, thats steal.

Pretty cool that you are paying the same insurance on your TT as you are on your tC. I would have thought the TT would have much higher, but you got a pretty good deal.

So hows it sound with that intake?

I got a slight discount on the insurance because it's a second car, I have a corp. discount w/ the insurance agency, and I told them it would be low miles for the first year. All in all not bad. If it was brand new I would expect it to be much more.

With the intake, it sounds sweet. The exhaust note on the TT (stock) is nice - deep on the inside and outside, but without too much volume (e.g. motor is louder in higher RPMs). The intake adds a whooshy aggressive quality. I can also hear my turbo and diverter valve "blow off" clear as day now. Sounds so cool.

Here's a GREAT youtube clip of the intake in action:

I almost ended up with the convertible but opted for the coupe. The convertible was very nice, except it had zero "quick access" cargo room for when I'm driving (e.g. the so-called 'back seat')

Could probably wedge it in there...I've never tried. At an angle it's about the same height as the keyfobs
