I couldnt find any threads about this problem, forgive me if there is one. But when I first got my car brand new in December I noticed tiny itsy bitsy rust colored specks on my paint...I called the dealer to ask about it and she said it was impossible that its rust and most likely its sap...and it cant be sap I've used all kinds of sap removers. Today after the carwash I noticed theres even more of these rust like specks on my bumper, spoiler and hood. Anyone else with this problem? Do you think its rust?

your bumber is plastic so its deff not rust there.. some bird droppings have acidics in it and can sometimes leave little yellowish or brownish colors spots behind which never really go away they just fade.. come with the white paint. thats why i always clean the birds gifts off right away! also the tc doesnt have the greatest exterior paint it chips and scratches easy. hope i helped a little!! haha

agreed,

if you use a claybar kit, and clean, claybar and use the cleaner wax, a lot of things that wouldn't normally come off in a wash just disappear like magic

I had some brownish stains from trees and some other crap which is still unknown, but after using the claybar and cleaner wax, the stains are gone

5 year unlimited mileage rust warranty on all Scion tCs. Just an FYI for everyone. Check with your dealer but it's part of the base package you get the car with.

i've had problems before with specs like that on my mazda. First time is was black and brown specs of tar. The second time it was because someone must of painted something near my car with spray paint and specs landed on my ride. I used a microfiber sponge with the fishnet texture and scrubbed my heart out.

So I used the clay bar this morning, it got some of those specs off...but not most of em'. Maybe I wasnt doing it right...but it seems kinda hard to screw up. Anyways, I think I'm just gonna find some time this week and swing by the dealer and have them buff them out.

according to a mechanic at the toyota dealership its not plastic (except the lower front and rear portions of the bumpers) the car is made of "bimetal" wich according to him is a metal/plastic compostite. i have a small dint on my passanger rear side between my rear tire and the door and he told me useing dry ice wuld pop the dint right out, but i wont do that coz its been like that since the 3rd day i had the car and the length of time its been dinted i think the force of the dint popping out will crack my paint in that area if not knocking a portion of it off where the dint was

yes...again the basic warranty cover 5 years for rust...and the bumper can not rust because it's plastic.

i've used clay bar before...it takes some pressure and a lot of rubbing to get every single speck. then you have to wax it right away...clay bar takes off the wax you've put on it as well as the clear coat. be carefull not to take too much clear coat off when applying pressure...

I know what you guys are talking about. At first I thought it was from the dog food factory on the commute to school and home. They were little small circles of brown spots. Yesterday I found one on my passenger side door, scraped it off and it took off the clear coat with it so now its just a area on the door next to the window where the clear coat has been literally eaten away. As for the rest of those dots, they mainly preside at the rear of the car near the trunk. I've removed the surface with my nails just by scraping it and tried using some removers on it but nothing. I've also noticed that once the rust looking circles get on the paint, after removing it or scraping it off, it still is there but not only that it "bubbles" up and leaves a small bubble wehre the stain is. So yeah that pisses me off that they chose such cheap paint on the tC. I've never seen this happen to any other car that i've owned (my 88 acura legend has never encountered this sort of problem for the past 18 years). Lastly I do notice there is rusting on my hood. Its the front end of the hood and I guess it was caused by a rock hitting it and chipping the paint off. But as far as toyota's warranty on that, how exactly do they fix the rusting problem? Replace the whole hood or just detail that area?
