Well the fourth page sums it up with the diag of the fuel pressure gauge. There is no schrader valve in the system. That's funny. Tap into the line just like in that page and you'll get fuel pressure there.

BTW, why are you running a wet kit on this? What shots are you planning on running? I would think a dry shot would be fine for a N/A motor unless we are talking about 100 shots or higher.

I'm planning on running a 75 shot for now. I figured it would be safer since i'm injecting fuel and nitrous so there's no possibility of a lean condition. Especially with the ZEX kit since they use some sort of magic to proportion fuel/nitrous flow in case something goes wrong.

I also have this pipe dream of upgrading my nitrous as i go along. Granted that's going to take years and years, but don't be surprised if some day you hear of a nitrous tC using a triple step setup running 250hp shots and pulling 9's at the track ;)

Also, i guess i haven't been getting enough sleep. That fourth diagram does sum everything up, doesn't it.

A 75 shot will be too much for that motor unless you use it like once every month or so, and we both know that'll never happen. It's WAY too much fun. I'd start with a 35 and stpe up to 50 after a little while. That's the big thing about nitrous. It's not bad if you use it correctly. Most don't.

If you decide to drop the idea of stepping up to high shots in the future a dry shot is the way to go. It's cheaper, easier to install, and easier to use. Remember, the chances of you having a 9 second FWD car are VERY slim. Hell, even 10's and 11's are going to be REALLY expensive. I know all about it. I'm gunning for 12's right now on my FWD.....

I've read discussions on the 2az-fe about power handling. Apparently it's got forged rods and ceramic coated pistons. The bottom end can take double the stock power before parts have to start being replaced. This information came from ZPI as well as users putting out high power on different forums. The only concern with high shots of nitrous that i'm aware of is fuel puddling in the intake manifold leading to backfires. However, i've spoken to people who have been running 75hp wet shots for 2 years without issues. Apparently, once you cross over the 100hp mark is when puddling becomes a real danger.

I've done enough research to know that the wet kit i bought is safe. I'm even taking extra precautions (tc_by_trd's push button paired with tps switch) to ensure that i'm not injecting nitrous when i'm not supposed to. I chose nitrous because the initial cost is very little compared to other power adders, and it's got potential to make as much if not more power than blowers.

Thanks for the concern, though, and good luck with making it into the 12's. I'm going to assume this is a specific track car, and i'm also going to assume it's freaking sweet.

Wet kits are safer than dry kits, but only in F/I cars or on really high shots where the MAF can't compensate for the extra fuel needed. It all depends on how high you want to go with it. You are right about puddling in high shots.

That's good news about the bottom end of the motor. I would try to ask around for people with turbo kits that have had them for a long time about the motor. They will be handeling that kind of power and can testify to longevity of the block. Reading a mag is one thing, actually seeing it is another.....

MAJOR UPDATE

I just replaced my stock nylon fuel line with a rubber line. I'm a magician, i know.

I'll be a specific as possible. I bought a 2 foot long fuel injection hose (you're not going to need all of it, but you're better off having more than you need) from my napa auto parts store. 5/16" diameter and 4 5/16" hose clamps. Then, i started attacking my fuel line.

BUT BEFORE I EVEN POPPED THE HOOD I RELIEVED THE FUEL PRESSURE. God knows you don't want an 87 octane shower. To relieve the system's pressure, take off your rear seat cushions. You can accomplish this by lifting at either end of the cushion near where your knees would be if you were sitting on it. There are two big white plastic clips. Pop those straight up then slide the cushion towards the middle of the car. Pry the metal cover you see with the wire coming into it off with a flathead screwdriver. It's held in place with butyl tape. It looks like taffy. Once you're under the cover, disconnect both plugs you see. They're fighters, so be patient. After those are unplugged, jump in your driver's seat and turn over your engine. It should run for some amount of time, then stop on its own. This seems like you'd be damaging something, but this is the procedure outlined in the tech manual. Once it's off crank it once more for security. Now you can pop your hood and start playing with your lines.

I took off a section of my intake and disconnected the sensor connected to it. Once i set that aside, i disconnected the portion of the fuel line attached to the main hardline of the car. That was simple, once you wrestle the plastic clip off (it was being stubborn, so it did take some patience) you depress the two yellow sides and lift straight up and off. That's simple enough.

The portion connected to the fuel rail, however, i was unable to take off myself. So i removed the fuel pressure sensor on the rail using a 10mm 1/4 inch drive socket and wrench.

You will now hold the Fuel pressure sensor and the fuel line in your hands. What i did next is i had my brother drive over to my neighborhood mechanic where he had a toyota fuel line removal tool. It took him some wrestling as it was the first time he used the tool. I felt special. This is where the fun began...

Since the fuel injector line is tough rubber re-enforced with nylon cord running throughout, you're going to have to coax it a little bit for it to fit over the two barbs the stock fuel lines connect to. I beat it senseless with a metal ball peen hammer for minutes on end, then resorted to heating it up with my work lamp (which gets to insane temperatures). Once it's flexible (it should take much less effort to deform the hose after you use softening methods) lube the fuel fittings with motor oil (i used 5w30 royal purple, only the best ). Once you get the hose flexible enough and the fittings slippery enough, work the hose onto the fuel pressure sensor (since it should still be free). It'll work it's way on, but you're going to have some upper body strength to wrestle it on. I used my enormous brother.

REMEMBER TO PUT HOSE CLAMPS ON AT THIS STEP. Put your two hose clamps on and tighten the hose between the two barbs. You should have 1/8" to 1/4" of hose sticking out past the second barb. Tighten your hose clamp between the two barbs for MAXIMUM EFFICIENCY YO. Now with the fuel pressure sensor still loose, work the other end of the hose onto your hardline. Take care not to bend anything or break anything that's in the way. Once the second end of the hose is on about as far as the first end, slide your hose clamp down the hose and tighten between the two barbs. Reconnect your fuel pressure sensor with your two 10mm bolts, and reinstall your intake. Remember to reset your computer or your car will think it has no gas and it's running too lean. Once it's reset it's just a matter of time before your car gets used to your intake again and you're good to go! Congratulations installing your new fuel line!

hey i had a 75 shot on my car no problem and it was wet and the car can handle up too a 125 shot no prob i just woulndt push it, if u put a lower shot then 75 on there its pointless to spend the money on the kit.... what is ur yahoo ill send a pic

Sorry about image quality, i didn't have a camera until later on in the day, but i assure you, you didn't miss anything vital.

Also, i took a test drive shortly after i installed everything. The car didn't shut down or anything, it ran strong as ever even when i brought it up to redline at full throttle. I'm confident that this is a good solution to our nylon fuel line problem.

I just ran into a huge snag. I installed the mechanical aspects of the kit no problem. The lines are all run, the bottle is mounted, the solenoids are connected, and the nozzle is drilled. The jets are also in place. Every mechanical aspect looks stock, it's a beautiful sight. However, i have an electrical gremlin. The "learn" light doesn't come on when the switch is armed and the car is on.

Wiring details (solenoid box): red wire goes to switch (goes into the fuse side), black wire goes to battery -, white wire goes to ECU harness E8-21 (light green wire).

Wiring details (arming switch): red wire from solenoid box goes into it on the fuse side, other wire goes to a solid ground.

Tell me what i'm doing wrong, nitrous gods. Please!

Ok, well, I just changed my wiring a little bit.

Box: the same as before.

Switch: red wire to fused wire, other wire to 12v power source.

Am i doing something wrong here?

Ok, i just managed to get my kit to work! For those of you who don't know, 75hp shots feel fucking amazing.

I'm going to start working on a "DIY nitrous" in the DIY section soon.

I hope i inspire more scion drivers to get on the juice!

im new to this forum but honestly that is awesome, are you running push button or are you using the pedal switch, i plan on getting the zex kit and would love the push button. because if nitrous kills my car i want to be doing it not some stupid computer. i will be using a 75 wet shot as well. this is a good story and making me very eager to go through with this.

Ok, i haven't really been paying attention to this thread. Sorry guys!

I am using a push button with my zex kit. I interrupted the red wire going from the arming switch to the zex box with a momentary push button switch that i mounted on the center console. Now i have to arm the system with the switch and the button before the nitrous engages at full throttle.

As for the purge question, i'm not running a purge kit yet. I will eventually though. I'm not sure where i'm going to mount it, but i'm thinking i'm going to put the outlet near the middle of the hood by the windshield.

I purge manually now. I go and unscrew the fitting by the nitrous bottle every time i park the car after i use the kit. It's a pain in the ass.

Definitely investing 70 dollars to convenience soon.
