I have a cheap Cobra radar detector. Has worked just fine in various vehicles over the past 2 years...my old Golf, parents Civic, wife-s pontiac, rental cars, etc...I-ve put it in my tC and it is acting like it is on CRACK. Goes off all the time...especially w/ the radar detector detector setting (they don-t use these in Texas...) Anyone have anything similar happen?Andrew

have a beltronics detector.. nothing out of the ordinary.. had it in my old civic as well, same response and sensitivity as before.. have you tried taking the cobra and putting it in another car to see if it-s acting up? it might have a problem, i-ve had cobra before they just go wacky when they go bad..

Where exactly did you mount it in the car?Do you have cheap tinted widows? Is the RD level with the road?

Its mounted on the front window, about an inch above where the windshield wipers stick up, and as close to the center of the vehicle as I could get. No tint...just got the car and don-t have the $$$ to tint it up just yet...and now w/ a moonroof that exploded...I still may not... as for it being bad...like I said...I had it in my golf until the night of trade in...and it only started acting weird after it got moved over to my tC...I don-t doubt it going bad though...its a couple years old and has weathered Houston heat and this winter it was in the vehicle during the minor snow storm...Andrew

It either may be defective or try moving it further away from the wipers.

try two things.. first is another car.. just to see..other thing is to move it higher than the wiper blades.. i have it about 4-5 inches higher on mine.. it might be reflecting radar signals off the hood and you-re picking up the bounce on the detector
