hey guys...and gals lol, i was thinking about getting a cold air intake (k&n typhoon) but i was scared about getting it. ive heard many people and have actually seen a car that has drivin through a puddle and sucked water into the mote...consequently destroying the motor...could you ease my fears or agree with the above?

So if you see a puddle just let go of the throttle.

you can also by a by-pass valve or a hydroshield which fits over the filter itself.

its all where you put it. mine is the trd and the sits right by the hole on the bottom of the bummper where some have put the vrd fogs.

And yes it can get hydro lock. so do be carefull. you can stop it bye putting like a carbon pad on the filter it self as well

unless you drive through a lake, or a 2ft deep puddle, you'll be fine

It is a filter sponge which becomes your coupler from the short RAM section, and the section that goes to your fender. The way it works is that should you submerge the lower air filter, liquid suction will not take place because there is another source of air to pull in.

My car isn't the fastest car out there, but I'll tell ya....

Sometimes I haul more ass than a pimp driving a caddy full of hoes.

you'd have to really submerge your filter to hyrdro lock or dive into some seriously deep puddles to hydrolock

spend some money on the bypass valve if it'll make you feel better

a bypass valve should cost from 30-50 bucks

from that thread it seems as though many people have hydrolocked sp? and its not as rare as i thought? althought it seems most who have celicas put it right behind the front bumper. are any intakes made that stay relativly high?

You would basically have to drive through a lake to hydrolock a tC. On a side note, get the injen. better performance, and you wont have to worry about the braket breaking

Really using the by-pass valve as a "coupler" for the short ram section is highly not recommended. This adds excess wear to the valve from the necessary flexing that takes place at this joint. AEM recommends splicing the upper tube toward the t.b. and placing it between two mounts.

oh yeah and the Injen CAI will break the mount and now it rattles against my fender when the engine moves... (annoying it surely is)

the mount that holds the pipe up, it's shaped like an "L" and made of plastic.

With the torque heavy engine the Tc has there is a lot of engine movement in 1st and 2cnd gear. The play puts a hell of a lot of stress on the CIA. DocI's fender mount keeps it stable. =D

Upper tube towards the TB means right by the TB? All their installation pics are where the SRI would end.
