I want to trade in my 2006 Scion tC for a 2008 Infiniti G37s. I went to the dealer yesterday and they told me that they will offer 12,700 for my tC but I don’t think that’s enough. What can I do to try and get 14000 from them???? BTW the new G37S is so sick… 2008 G37 OB Sport 6MT... 2007 335I 4DR... |

Sell it outright. Otherwise, stop driving it completly and start arguing with them. Show them that you could actually buy one. You don't want to drive it because every mile will lower the trade in. |

Mods typically lower the cost of the trade in, as it means the car was driven hard. I'd remove all performance mods and try at another dealership. Also, kbb.com will show you what you should expect. |

13,500 would be better… I’ll spend do much money trying to get it back to stock vs. what they will offer for a trade in. I plan on staying on this site no plans on leaving to another site. 2008 G37 OB Sport 6MT... 2007 335I 4DR... |

the most important (and simplest) thing you can do to get more value from your trade is to clean it it's IS possible to get more money for your trade just by negotiating, but also keep in mind that the money offered for your trade and the discount given on the vehicle go hand in hand if they refuse to discount the vehicle, you'd better make sure you put the squeeze on them for the trade amount you should be able to buy a car at invoice and still get a fair amount for your trade the best way to be prepared for the jerk games that the dealers play is to know what your credit is and have a realistic goal for the value of your trade Kelly Blue Book is a nice guide, but it doesn't provide anything but a ballpark figure on what you can get for your trade if the dealer says they can't discount the car, just walk out, it's classic negotiation let the salesperson capture your contact info, at least a cell phone and they'll be calling the next day (if they care about the sale they will call) |

I’m talking with the guy and they now offered me 13,000 for my tC (I told him 14,000 and we have a deal) But on the price of the G37 they don’t want to move it at all they give me this crap about the car being sold like hot cakes… I know this car is hot but I don’t want to pay MSRP (Rape Price) when I know I could be paying 1000 over invoice… What the hell… 2008 G37 OB Sport 6MT... 2007 335I 4DR... |

oh God, I know all those tricks... how well the car is selling (like hotcakes) has nothing to do with how much they can or should sell it for... when the sales person says, "well, we are not discounting it because this car is hot" , what he's really saying is: "I shouldn't have to discount this car because if you want it so bad, you'd better be willing to pay some money to me" flunk dat!! if they don't discount the G37 THEY'D BETTER give you $14,000 for your tC, you can do it! good luck |

I’m going to keep fighting for the 14000… If they don’t take it then I’ll have to wait till I sell the car. 2008 G37 OB Sport 6MT... 2007 335I 4DR... |

When u walk form the showroom take the 4 square sheet they're writin your deals on, and go to anudder dlr. That way they know u r not BS. But do NOT drop your price on the tC, unless they show they r sellin u the G for invoice. Still u dont wanna go too far. |

I wish people would just stop buying the car so that I can get an awesome deal on it. I can purchase it now but in the long run I’ll fill like I’ve been ripped off. So I guess it will just have to be a waiting game till the cave in and give me $14,000 for my tC and knock off 500 from the MSRP. That way I’m a head $1,800 from there initial offer. One other question what and how dose a trade in tax work? Can I use that towards the down payment? 2008 G37 OB Sport 6MT... 2007 335I 4DR... |

the money offered for the trade is subtracted from the selling price of the vehicle before tax is added... it would look something like MSRP------$37,000 Trade---(-$14,000) ----------$23,000 7% tax-----%1,610 subtotal--$24,610 *this does not reflect dealer's dock fee and other fees such as balance owed on trade* the tax savings is from less money on the front end, think of your trade as the down payment it's not an amount that can be moved around though edit here is what tax would look like with no trade at all MSRP-----$37,000 7% tax----$2,590 ----------%39,590 |
