Anyone have recommendations for brake pad upgrades for the tC I-m doing a DE in a few weeks, and I-m looking for something more track worthy than the stock pads, but I don-t need a full race pad.Is it true that the brakes on the tC are the same as on the Celica GT-S If so, how about using the TRD pads for the GT-S Thanks,-Stephen

Yeah, they work http://www.clubsciontc.co...wtopic&t=1709http://www.clubsciontc.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=1722Check the above threads, you may want to find out if the GT-S TRD-s rear will work, the Hawks were different for me in the rear and were not compatible for some strange reason...So I had to go with Axxis pads in the rear instead(from the GT-S. The TRD-s might work...you-ll probably have to be the 1st like I was to try...sin

Thanks, Sin,Helpful info. I-ll report back on how the TRD pads fit and perform.I bled my brakes last night, and the pedal is a little soft. I used a pressure bleeder (that I made ), but I did pump the pedal a few times to speed things up. I-ll re-bleed and see if that fixes it. Bled the clutch also, but no problems there. I didn-t break any connections, just changing to synthetic fluid.-Stephen

Just an update:I decided on and ordered EBC Redstuff Ceramic pads for the f&r today. Part numbers are DP31325C and DP31326C, for the 2000+ Celica GT-S. We-ll see how they fit.I think the problem with the soft pedal after bleeding was due to air entering the front brake calipers through the threads on the bleed screw. I applied a heavy grease to the threads of the bleed screw and loosened the screw as little as possible while re-bleeding. Problem solved.-Stephen

The rear pads for the Celica GT-S do NOT fit the tC (based on both EBC and TRD pads for the GT-S). I took the front and rear pads off of the tC and traced and measured them. Browsing the pad illustrations in the EBC catalog, I found that the 1325 is the correct front pad, and that the 1456 is the correct pad for the rear (not the 1326 from the Celica). That makes the part numbers for the EBC Redstuff CeramicsDP31325C front and DP31456C for the rear.Greenstuffs would be DP21325 and DP21456, front and rear.Joe at perfectbrakes.com is having some rears made, so contact him if you want pads. Very helpful service. sales@perfectbrakes.comIf anyone is having trouble getting the right pads made elsewhere, use the attached .pdf I made of the pad outlines. The supplier can then look them up in the FMSI (Friction Materials Standards Institute) catalog.-StephenEDIT: The attachment option is not working for me, so e-mail me if you need the outlines. sparks@slb.com

Thats Right,...Quick Note: I actually have an extra set of Hawks for the front for cheap(no more than 500 miles of city driving on them), shoot me a PM if you have interest...

We all go to the road course to drive all out. We don-t go there to hold back. When you are at a track event, brake temperatures get to very high temps usually not reached on the street. Therefore we separate brake pads into two separate catagories, street and track/race. Street pads operate will without having to be warmed up. Track/race pads only operate well on higher temperatures. There aren-t any pads that work best in both types of senarios. In the end, there is no such thing as an occasional track day. You are on track or you aren-t. We recommend drivers have two sets of pads just like how drivers have two sets of wheels/tires. One set for the street and one set for the track. If you want to do minimal work, at least change out the front pads. The rear pads do not get nearly as hot and can be left as aggressive street pads.
