Hey I got an another idea!!

" LIVE CHAT "

dun dun dun

Wouldn't it be nice, if we got to chat with members?
Not with AIM or anything but on the site.

Make a room
Chat Invite
Chit Chat!

Then we can ask quick questions to Web, Orin, or other sensei.

Hey Sqmk, I will try to be a nice member of this club.

[Edit: please, for the love of god, create useful thread titles - SqMK.]

Me will do that.

Numerous users have asked for this. I have one planned down the road that is integrated with the site.

It's cool. I need reminding that users really want a chat system, haha.

alright, well I only assume after hearing the same question again and again, you begin to feel like your listening to a broken record do people still log on the IRC? maybe you should repost that info on this this thread for the channel

IRC was dead a day after we started using it. I was thinking a web interface for chatting right on the site will work. No software needed besides a modern browser.

Sounds good, as long as it works with Firefox be cool with me, just do a basic java system then? have it like the old school msn chat, that one was great back when it was free.

Not even java. Would be completely web based, no applets, etc. Think private messaging system, except a bit more live.

i've thought about recommmending this one more than one occasion. but its like...this is a forum for a reason. i think a lot of info will get lost with a chat room. for example. i like posting a question and reading a response later on. with a forum everyone can read the response, compared with a chat where only people online at the time would read whats going on. i think a chat would be cool for the social thing, but a lot would be taken away from the purpose of the site, which is talking about cars. does this make any sense?

Yea that makes sense Ern. But however the chatroom would probably get rid of alot of the regurgitated(sp?) questions that are posted. That and maybe out of the entire community that joins this site, only a good 15-20 percent of them actually post. The rest just lurk and watch posts. The chatroom would be an easier place to interact with the rest of us and maybe convince them to post more I'd like to think of the forums as more of a database/archive and have the chatroom as a place to chill and talk more about other things rather than posting them on the site (-cough-heading to Taco Bell post-cough-)

I agree with Ern that its nice 2 have the forums where ppl can post stuff n it'll always be there in a thread 4 others 2 read cuz sure there are the regulars but even the regulars cant always get on all the time n its nice 2 come on n be able 2 search 4 what u want n that would get lost if it became mostly chat...so a combo of both would be perfect!

R u sure about that? Cuz I used that chat a couple nights not 2 long ago...ask Joey he used it with me n with another member 2! I 4 get the link 2 it but it might even still work.

i just thiink that if we implement a chat room, its just going to become a pure social thing. there's nothing wrong with that, but i figure if you want to be social we can just message each other through yahoo or AIM.

Well that is cool that it would be more live, I also think it would be a good idea with the chat users that had a question could be directed to the proper thread if one's exists, It would also like was said before make the site more active.
