Anyone heard anything about TRD's LSD? Are there any other options out there for LSD that are available for tC's? I'm pondering adding a new LSD to my list of todos.

It's the Quaife LSD and TRD just purchased the vendor rights from them. It's a good LSD but over priced b/c it now says TRD.

how much more expensive is this LSD than other LSD that can be used for the tC?
The average price I've seen for the TRD limited slip is about $1,000

There's a somewhat similar product, Phantom Grip, but it's not a full LSD....it's inserts into the differential and acts like an LSD. Somewhere around 500-600 i think.

If anyone is needing a good deal on an LSD I am trying to get a price cut on them from my rep, it is a long shot but I will keep you all posted. 
Hopefully I can do something to help out my awesome Scion brothers and sisters!

but the best out there.. for sure. the Phantom Grip is a cheap solution.... if you want LSD... save up and do it right.

Yeah save up and pay over 1500$ for a mod that unless your boosted OR in the habit of taking corners at 50mph it will never pay for it self...
or get a Phantom Grip that will do all the above for under 1K...

^HIGHLY doubt TRD is gonna let anything go on a group price.....that just sounds rediculous to me but it would be nice.

TRD is the only distributor of that part as far as I know and I've heard. Unless a Scion dealership takes it upon themself to sell it cheaper, but that's unlikely. Kind of like the TRD S/C....no other dealers of the part other than Scion themselves.

^^yeah i'm a little curious to this my self.
once TRD got their filthy hands on it the price went up and i stopped seeing it for sale anywhere else under the Quaife name.
but just recently i could have sworn i ran into a site selling aftermarket tc parts and the LSD was in the list as "Quaife"

I checked out the quaife website, and they direct you to TRD now for any questions about pricing or ordering, so i'm guessing TRD is now the only option for purchasing the LSD

Yeah, TRD bought out the Quaife license to sell those LSDs. Quaife builds them but TRD sells them with a noticeable markup in price.

Usually Quafie's run around the 1000 range, so its not that bad of a deal when you think about it.
Just sucks cuz if im having a Diff installed, i midas well have a new clutch and flywheel ready to go while everything is dismantled. No sense in paying labour twice for a tranny drop.

It helps deliver power through both wheels rather than just one. With an open differential, almost all the engine power is sent to 1 wheel and if it spins, you lose traction. An LSD senses the slipping and shifts power to the other wheel keeping grip.
