Well, yet another part broke . Damn rear shock for my full suspension is leaking hydraulic fluid out the cylinder. Gonna be getting another one in a bit but they range between 250-500 so it'll be a bit. Gonna ride with a blown rear shock for a while.

Those scenes look amazing bro! I want to try some desert terrain like that. Here, I'm used to wooded areas, mud slopes and rock faces. I'll try to get another person out with me next time and see if we can get some pictures. I just don't want to take a camera with me all the time incase I wreck (which has happened a few times).

I'm running:
-26x 2.25 (front) Continental Conti trac
-26x 2.35 (rear) Lust Ignitor
-SRAM X9 rear sprocket (9 speed)
-SRAM X9 front/rear derailers
-egg beater pedals
-RockShox Pilot (5.5 inch travel, adjustable air dampening) front fork
-Avid Juicy 5 hydraulic brakes (front/rear) with 160mm slotted discs
-OURY locking handle grips

Looking at getting a new rear shock now b/c mine blew out. Not sure which one yet but it's gonna have to be in the 6.5"x1.5" range I believe. I have to measure it out tomorrow but I think that's about what it looks like. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.

thanks for the love on the shots.

i cant tell from your pix, but your rear shock looks like it might be a fox vanilla, no offense, but it is on the lower end of the totem pole if it is (thus blowing a seal, leaking). you can replace it with an air shock, a fox rp23 would be ideal, granted you find one with the same eye to eye length...this will also lighten up your bike by about one pound. the rp2 or rp3 is also a good alternative and will cost a bit less than the rp23. also, if that guy paid $400 for that RockShox Pilot he got took, those things shouldn't retail for more than $250.

check out www.socaltrailriders.org and sign up, tell them 'guero' sent ya. my good friend created that site. lots of stuff for sale in the 'marketplace' forum there. also check out www.mtbr.com in their classifieds as well. eBay can be a good source for mt. bike parts too.

let me know if you need parts, i live in so. cal and have many hook ups.

Sweet! Hell yeah bro. I'll take some hook ups where I can get them. That's the original rear shock and when I got my bike, I just got one that was a bit better than the rest of the bikes there. Now, I'm just piecing it together with newer/better parts. Let me tell you....the mechanical to hydraulic brake conversion...yeah....hands down the best feeling in the world on hard corners!

The front fork is much better than the original one and has a nice range of travel. I was looking at one that had about 6.5" of travel (kind of looks like yours) but it was in the 550-600$ range. A bit much and the one he gave me was FREE so I couldn't pass that up since mine was snapped at the neck.

Those are sweet! Sucks for me around here b/c not many people I know go riding like I do. My buddy went with me last time and we were just sh*ting around but he ended up take a bath in the river as I rode the log right next to him. He had never really take his bike off pavement so it was funny to give him a taste of the trails for the first time.

My first time out, I remember I fell down a 25' ravine and my bike got stuck up in a tree. That was a fun climb.

Front tire: Continental Explorer Mountain King for lots of maneuverability. 2.10 x 26

It depends on your type of riding. I'm a mostly cross country rider and 29er rider now so I run the Kenda Small Block 8s. Before when I rode Freeride/ All Mountain, I ran some Specialized Chunder tires and they were awesome.

I rode my chunder tires through just about everything and they gripped and shed the mud pretty well. They're a little pricey but well worth it IMO
