I did all my fiberglass work myself. I had it sprayed with the paint from my car. I started today on trimming it. I test fitted some trim and painted it black. I need to do the rest. You can see it next to the one amp.

I have a build up of the whole process if anyone wants to see.

I wanted to do the same thing with putting them under. i still might. i am going to pull it all out this week and consider it. I still have my spare. I might take it out have it all covered. Not sure.

As far as the process, it sucks. But here is a complete write up. up until the finishing. I will get that up when I have time.

dont mix too much hardner with fiberglass resin, wear masks, wear rubber gloves, do it in a well vented area. apply the fiberglass to the fabric of ur choice, mainly poly, but ive seen people use sweude. make sure there is no creases, apply the fiberglass everwhere. then start applying fiberglass matt, dab the fiberglass onto it to make it blend in with the fabric u used. let it dry for a good day.

u can also make a COMPLETE fiberglass box with no MDF at all(cept for baffles), so u can make it form to fit a side in the hatch or something. u just apply a bunch of newspaper/foil to the area in the hatch, apply the fiberglass/fiberglass matt to that area, let it dry, and then pull it out and sand it off, then but ur baffle on there with stands, apply fabric, and same thing u do as above.

Excelent tips. It is extremely hard. i see now why they charge so much for custom work.

ive done it without wearing a mask, in a closed garage and let me tell u, it felt like i smoked like 20 joints, did 5 kegstands, and ran a mile lol

also, if u do it in the car to make a custom fiberglass, spray the area with febreeze when ur done.

I've done fiberglass on the front header panel of my truck after I hit my truck. Here's another tip:

DON'T FIBERGLASS WHEN IT'S COLD OUTSIDE!....The resin (I didn't wear gloves...........yes, I know, i'm an idiot) will actually make your skin more susceptible to getting frost bite b/c it pulls all the moisture out of it and brings it to the surface.

Plus: Fiberglass is a pain to dry when it's cold outside.

Complaining is futile when you supported the victory.

i have a question...why do people turn their sub around backwards sometimes? i've seen this a couple of times, i thought it was just to show off the back of it in a picture or something. is there any point to this? also...great write up.

If the speaker face is upwards, the sound travels up into the open space of the car............If the speaker is aimed at the car (downwards), the bass travels into the body of the car and sounds much deeper.
