I just clocked 1500 miles, and my brakes are squealing!! WTF!!?? any1 else have this problem? It occurs upon brake release while gliding,, ie through a speed bump, or down a hill. Not that I-m worried about my breaks failing or anything like that,, but its kinda embarrasing!!!

well, I took it down to have it checked out, they couldn-t find anything mechanically wrong with it, but suggested that they were still pretty new, and probably needed to be broken in. I was kinda puzzeled b/c I have changed plenty of breaks, and never had new brakes squeal b4,, but they seem to have stopped for a while,, if they continue, Im gonna have them replaced.

Spray the pads and rotors down with brake parts cleaner and see if that solves. When I had some squeaks on my mustang-s new brakes, that-s what I did to them and they stopped squeaking.

just posted about this in another thread, but i-ll throw mine in here as well.. i just started to have this happen to me as well.. (have about 8000 miles on my tC) last time I had this was on my old civic.. mechanic found on the civic that the anti-noise goop that was on the backs of the pads wore away due to all the salt/grime during the winter, put some more on no squeal.. im wondering if that-s the fix here..i too remember the quick fix for the ol- mustang was using brake cleaner too.. i might try that.. but it-s too cold right now to jack up the car and try that.. if someone tries the brake cleaner, and it works (fixes it permanently) let us know!!

For those with squeaking problems. Try bedding in the pads. AKA break in.http://www.stoptech.com/whitepapers/bedincontents.htmRead thoroughly. As a note, I might do it a little gentler than what it suggests, since you are on stock pads.

Try using the brakes hard a few times in a row, that often helps.
