That's also in the front of ours but only on the edges. Yeah, that will block radar detection as well as the blue tint that some windshields come with on the front (measured by the AS1 line). Not sure why some people mount there's so high right next to the rear view mirror..........does nothing good for detection...for the most part........nothing for laser.


yeah i hate the dot matrix, fucks up your windows when you try to tint it too. I had to cover my dot matrix with vinyl.

 I picked up Ka from about 3/4-1 mile away last night. It was great!. Cop was just chillin' aimed at me when I passed and I saw his Ka radar showing a reading of cars behind me as I passed.

 Continued review 6/24/07:

Ok, just took a trip to Ocean City where K, Ka and Laser are frequently used by state troopers. This time, I didn't encounter any laser (disappointed), but had A LOT of K band and some Ka. Most of the K band was from oncoming moving troopers but what I was VERY pleased with was that the alert came from around far off corners, over a few hills and with PLENTY of time to slow down. The shortest alert that I had was at LEAST 3/4 miles away. It stayed on the 1st bar of the alert graph for about 10 seconds and then slowly climbed as the cop came closer. I was very happy with this.

Ka was the same way but this one was the best. I was coming up to mile marker 74 on Route 50 and picked up Ka. For the next full minute, I was alerting to Ka between 1-2 bar frequency. Well, after about 2-3 minutes and 2 curves, I come up to full alert and as I take the curve, a trooper is in the median aiming his car the way I'm heading with his Ka meter on the outside of the back right window. I was speechless! The detector went ape sh*t as I came up to the turn so I was already down to 60 mph (speed limit is 55) so I was in the clear.

I was hoping I'd get a good trial period for this radar detector soon and this was it. I can't wait to see how it picks up on laser pulses. Only have had 2 alerts for laser since I got this.

 Nope.....but it depends on what you are looking for.

This one is very sensitive but very "false alert" evading....meaning, if there IS an alert, it will alert you very quickly.

The Valentine 1 is a very nice radar for laser but is somewhat too sensitive and gives off a lot of false alerts.

So, it really depends on what you want out of the radar. Here's a link to a test of the RX65, Escort 8500 x50, and Valentine 1...

 yes but when u buy from ebay, its not an authorized Beltronics reseller so when a new software update comes out to pick up new frequencies or to pick up the current ones better, ur SOL. the software update is only available from the Beltronics manufactuer and u have to prove the autorhized reseller

 Oh...I got a POP alert in Ocean City too. I didn't see him but the cop was behind me about 10 lengths and my detector just starting pulsing "POP".....He passed me and laughed and just waved........hahaha

 What he was doing was going around just scaring people with radar detectors. Most of the time, people start looking around vigorously when they get detected to see if they can find the cop. I obviously was looking around and when he passed, he just laughed at how I was looking around.

 Web, i wouldn't worry too much about picking up lasar. If you get a hit and aren't in a group of cars then they got you already. In MD only the state police are currently using lasar units. (as far as i've seen) I don't know if you had the opportunity to venture into delaware while you were down the beach, but they've revamped their police cruisers with dodge chargers. And they're fast as hell! I saw a couple people get run down when i went down in may, and those chargers are no joke. I'm kind of torn as to whether or not to get a lasar jammer. They're not cheap, and lasar isn't used that much. I'll probably have to learn the hard way and get a ticket before i'm willing to shell out the cash.

 Yeah, most State Troopers here use Laser and Constant on Ka. K is mainly county and sherriff patrols.

I'm happy with what I have so far so I'm gonna keep it as is for now

The thing about laser though, it's about a 75% hit rate. MOST of the time you're had but if you're lucky, sometimes the amount of light in the area (glare), ability of the cop to use the gun, certain angle of the license plate when shot at, angle of the cop to your car (the more drastic the angle, the harder it is for them to get a reading on you).....lots of factors. Although laser is seen as the ultimate speed trap, sometimes it does fail,.....if you're lucky


Heading to OC and a few occurances on 95S I have encountered a lot of laser from troopers. For the most part though (80%), it's usually Constant on Ka or K band.

 Went to NC this weekend and this detector was a beast .

With my new highmount position near the mirror it picked up Ka and K from over 1 mile away. My gf was impressed b/c she played the "Where's the cop game" and was expecting him to be over the next hill...and then the next.....but then he was over the 3rd hill...haha

I didn't want to chance losing it in VA due to STUPID laws there, but in MD and NC it was on and working PERFECTLY.

 Driving in downtown Laurel, MD today on 198 heading back towards Burtonsville (95) I was getting irritated with traffic so I made a pass and jumped up to about 65 in a 35. Well, my radar picked up Ka at 2 out of 9 bars so I let off and dropped to 45. About 3/4 of a mile down I came around a curve (about a 120 degree right turn) and there was a cop with his arm out the window aimed at my way of traffic. It was a nice early warning of 3/4 mile so I'm liking my detector

 i got the Beltronics BEL RX65 Radar Detector, its pretty nice. But now cops now days like to turn on there radars when they see you about to pass by which is wack! But the beltronic saved a hella lot of times espeically with those lovely lasers =].

 i got a cheap 9 band cobra, its saved my butt quite a few times. so far i have not been warned for a laser, only k/ka and v/vs
