i had the TRD supercharger put on, but the bypass valve sucks. theres no blow off sound. i tried to modify it but cant seem to find a BOV to make my car idle right. If anyone know how i can achieve the loud BOV noise but still keep me tc at a good idle and keep the air/fuel mixture from becoming too rich. i am all reas i have spent days trying to find answers. Please help. |

BOV's are only for turbos as far is know ![]() ![]() ![]() Are you in SoCal? Come to our CStC meets! Located in Socal? Need something Installed? Have a question and no one is willing to help? Shoot me a PM or hit me up on AIM. |

i know that. But its a bypass valve. So theres no way to achieve the turbo blow off nosie? Is there a aftermarket bypass. The bypass currently blows back into the supercharger. and if you disconnect that line then the temp rises. The idle pings and the mixtures is to rich. I amjust trying to see how i can get the "blow off noise" from the superchrager. |

I've heard of BOV's for superchargers before actually, but i dont understand how they can have them or how it would work ![]() |

Yes you can put a BOV on with the Supercharger. It's been done. Here it is HKS BOV:![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() TRD Supercharged Release Series 2.0 tC ![]() |

Ohh, Im an idiot, I didn't know BOVs were right before the inlet of the engine. I always thought they were on the 1st turbine of a turbocharger (no one make fun of me, haha).![]() "gonna wash my car before i take a nap.. can't rest well knowing i've got the entire cast of A Bug's Life on my bumper" - Vicious -- Want to post a "For Sale" thread? Yeah, as shown above, a BOV can be used on a S/C but if the S/C isn't pushing a lot of boost and the S/C blows out the excess during shifting, you'll get a big drop in power before it climbs again. They are mainly design for turbos but now that S/C have centrifugial designs and charge pipes, they make them for those as well. It's just not seen as much. ![]() Complaining is futile when you supported the victory. |

i hurd somewhere that the HKS BOV is louder on a s/c then a turbo kit i didnt understand that but eh ![]() |

That would depend on the application mainly. HKS BOVs sound totally different on a tC then they do on an STI. ![]() Complaining is futile when you supported the victory. |

blow off valves are for show.... and plus they're over rated. might as well roll as a sleeper and spank other cars. |

on a s/c right? I thought you actually need it for high boost turbos. ![]() "gonna wash my car before i take a nap.. can't rest well knowing i've got the entire cast of A Bug's Life on my bumper" - Vicious -- Want to post a "For Sale" thread? Check out the rules first. |

EDIT: lemme rephrase myself lol. you do need it, at times to relieve pressure or else something like a compressor surge will occur. but usually people only get bov just for the sound. and not know what it actually does. if ya know what i mean. |

hahaha, I'm glad you added this b/c I was about to ask you what would happen with excess pressure in the charge pipe during shift....haha.... Yeah, it's necessary to relieve charge pipe pressure during shifting so compressor surge (back spinning of the turbo fins) doesn't occur. But as stated, a lot of it has to do with sound preference. I personally like the Greddy Type R BOV sound.....not a splash like EVERYONE else has. ![]() Complaining is futile when you supported the victory. |

You will get annoyed with the HKS BOV quickly. I wanted to take it off of my MR2 in japan so bad.... you heard my blow off valve a few blocks before you heard my car. It was rediculous. |

Yeah, those are out there..............those are for people that have those fake intercooler intakes as well. Makes them "feel" fast.... Here's a link to it for sale: http://www.advancedjdmpar...81&cat=467&page=1 Quote from the link:
^The vendor even calls it a "front mount intercooler"....haha Here's a defense statement from a Honda forum on this type of

Well, hes got a point. It is just a cold air intake. A dangerously low one. Thats asking for a hydrolock. ![]() "gonna wash my car before i take a nap.. can't rest well knowing i've got the entire cast of A Bug's Life on my bumper" - Vicious -- Want to post a "For Sale" thread? wow... intercooler... lol having a CAI design like that isn't very good, I'm not talking hydro lock, but your filter would be rain soggy and you wouldn't have the power you need |
