i had the TRD supercharger put on, but the bypass valve sucks. theres no blow off sound. i tried to modify it but cant seem to find a BOV to make my car idle right. If anyone know how i can achieve the loud BOV noise but still keep me tc at a good idle and keep the air/fuel mixture from becoming too rich. i am all reas i have spent days trying to find answers. Please help.

i know that. But its a bypass valve. So theres no way to achieve the turbo blow off nosie? Is there a aftermarket bypass. The bypass currently blows back into the supercharger. and if you disconnect that line then the temp rises. The idle pings and the mixtures is to rich. I amjust trying to see how i can get the "blow off noise" from the superchrager.

Yes you can put a BOV on with the Supercharger. It's been done. Here it is HKS BOV:

Ohh, Im an idiot, I didn't know BOVs were right before the inlet of the engine. I always thought they were on the 1st turbine of a turbocharger (no one make fun of me, haha).

Yeah, as shown above, a BOV can be used on a S/C but if the S/C isn't pushing a lot of boost and the S/C blows out the excess during shifting, you'll get a big drop in power before it climbs again. They are mainly design for turbos but now that S/C have centrifugial designs and charge pipes, they make them for those as well. It's just not seen as much.

That would depend on the application mainly. HKS BOVs sound totally different on a tC then they do on an STI.

blow off valves are for show.... and plus they're over rated. might as well roll as a sleeper and spank other cars.

on a s/c right? I thought you actually need it for high boost turbos.

EDIT: lemme rephrase myself lol. you do need it, at times to relieve pressure or else something like a compressor surge will occur. but usually people only get bov just for the sound. and not know what it actually does. if ya know what i mean.

hahaha, I'm glad you added this b/c I was about to ask you what would happen with excess pressure in the charge pipe during shift....haha....

Yeah, it's necessary to relieve charge pipe pressure during shifting so compressor surge (back spinning of the turbo fins) doesn't occur. But as stated, a lot of it has to do with sound preference.

I personally like the Greddy Type R BOV sound.....not a splash like EVERYONE else has.

You will get annoyed with the HKS BOV quickly. I wanted to take it off of my MR2 in japan so bad.... you heard my blow off valve a few blocks before you heard my car. It was rediculous.

Well, hes got a point. It is just a cold air intake. A dangerously low one. Thats asking for a hydrolock.

wow... intercooler... lol

having a CAI design like that isn't very good, I'm not talking hydro lock, but your filter would be rain soggy and you wouldn't have the power you need
