THE SHADOW

Well, here's my steps on how to fix it

How to fix some minor clutch squeak and feel your clutch pedal smoother than ever

1)Located slave cylinder (front of transmission....just look straight down to the right of the upper radiator hose)

2)The yellow is just another spot I put grease on (it's where the slave cylinder rod comes out and pushes on the clutch fork.
3)Pull back on the rubber boot lined with red by pulling the little flap circled in red
4)You will see a metal arm reaching into the transmission (the clutch fork)
5)Get some high temperature bearing grease on your finger and apply it to that arm as far as your finger can reach into the housing.
6)Get someone to pump the clutch a few times and then hold it in all the way
7)you will see it move to the right and allow you to apply more grease to the other side of the fork (MAKE SURE THEY HOLD THE CLUTCH OR YOU'LL PINCH YOUR FINGER!)
8 )Make sure you cover all sections of the fork your finger can reach
9)replace the boot and start the car
10)give the clutch pedal a few pushes and then feel the difference

My clutch springs back quickly and MUCH smoother than stock ever did. I love the new feel of it

hey heyyy.... Web would be soo lost without me!

but uhm... you should pull back on the rubber for the slave cylinder rod too and put some grease in there as well... not just the boot for the fork itself... the squeak is more or so less from the metal rubbing between the rod and the fork assembly itself as it's pushing the fork.

Well, then the LEAST needed section is nice and greased.........hahahaha

Did you notice your clutch spring back much quicker and smoother and also depress much easier as well? Mine feels better than stock.

Just bought myself some grease from Napa and waiting for my engine to cool off. If this grease removes the squeak I will love my car all over again

Lmao it actually worked! The squeak is gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That and the clutch feels alot smoother now I wanted to grease inside the other boot but I couldn't remove the boot. But yea, the squeak is totally gone so far and engagement response is alot smoother and faster

hahahhaa..............nice.

The smaller boot you can't move b/c it's pretty tight on the slave cylinder rod. I got lot of grease last night and just kept adding more to the flat spot where the rod hits the fork........the Yellow circled section.

I did this last night and i'll admit, when I was in my garage and pumping the clutch I couldn’t feel a difference whatsoever. But once I took it out on the road it was a big difference in feeling. I was actually able to put grease on the “yellow” circled part though. The rubber sleeve is not that tight. It was VERY easy to slip off. The hardest part was putting it back on once I had grease on my hands, lol! But even then it only took me about 2 minutes to get it back on. I tried to coat all parts and cake a little inside the rubber grommets/sleeves, but i had a hard time with the "red" squared part.I have sausage fingers and no one was around to help so i really only the got the Yellow circled part good. The difference is actually VERY nice. I don’t even feel like I have a clutch pedal. It feels like i’m stepping in a tub of butter!! I never had the sqeak that some of you claim, but I had a good bit of hesitation to where the pedal would release slower than my foot sometimes causing an uneasy or violent shift because of mismatched RPMs. Thanks again to Web for posting this and also about letting me know of the NST shifter bushings a while ago. You’re the man Web!!

THE SHADOW

Glad it worked bro. Enjoy the butterly clutch feel .

Yeah, that square boot reveals the actual fork and unless you have thing, girlish finger (like myself) and someone pumping the clutch, you won't be able to do much in there. Find a girl that won't mind getting her hands dirty or a younger, thinner guy and while you push down on the clutch, have them grease both sides of the fork on the inside as much as they can. Make sure they know what they're doing first though...haha

Haha yeah, i just used a jack stand wedged up against the seat to hold in the clutch pedal while i tried, but i will definately have to get someone with smaller fingers. But i'm not even sure it's necessary. I can't imagine the clutch being any smoother! You should try the other boot again if you haven't already got it. It is really easy to slip the rubber sleeve off and i'm sure it will help a lot.
